Car Rental in Silicon Oasis, Dubai

On-street parking in Dubai Silicon Oasis stopped being free on 1 June 2026. Parkonic now reads the plate and bills the car's Salik account, at AED 4 an hour through most of the day and AED 6 between 16:00 and 20:00. If you have a tower bay or a Cedre driveway, none of that touches you, which is exactly why car rental in Silicon Oasis is worth arranging around the parking you already have. We deliver to your building or villa and collect from the same spot, so the car goes straight into the space you're paying for anyway.

What changed in June, and whether it affects you

The new system is ticketless and gateless. Cameras log the plate on the way in and out, the charge goes to the vehicle's Salik account unless an SMS session is started first, and there are no meters, no QR codes and no cash. The bands are AED 4 an hour from midnight to 16:00, AED 6 an hour from 16:00 to 20:00, and back to AED 4 until midnight. The busiest sectors went first, including the streets around the University Residence buildings.

Residents with an allocated bay in Silicon Gates, Le Presidium or Spring Oasis are unaffected. So is anyone in a Cedre villa, where the covered driveway takes two cars. The people who feel it are visitors, second-car households, and anyone whose building bay is already taken. If that's you, say so when you book and we'll time delivery for when your space frees up instead of parking the car onto a meter.

Getting the car to your bay

We meet you at the address you give. For the apartment towers that's the entrance, and you take the car down into resident parking yourself. For the villas we can put it straight on the driveway.

The handover takes a few minutes. Documents checked, a walk around the car, signature on the spot. Residents need the UAE licence and Emirates ID, and visitors need a passport, home licence, and an International Driving Permit where their nationality requires one. At the end we come back to the same address, so a depot run never enters the week.

The commute decides your tolls, not the address

There's no Salik gate inside Silicon Oasis, and there isn't one between here and Academic City, Mirdif or Festival City either. If your life runs on this side of the city, your toll bill is close to nothing.

Heading west is where it starts. Al Khail Road toward Dubai Marina or Internet City takes you through the Al Barsha gate, and the routes into Downtown and Business Bay pick up Business Bay Crossing. Since VAT was added on 1 June 2026 a peak crossing is AED 6.30, in the 06:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 windows. Off-peak and Sunday crossings are AED 4.20, and nothing is charged from 01:00 to 06:00. DXB is around twenty minutes by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Ras Al Khor, and you can usually make it without a gate.

So the honest answer to what tolls cost you here is that it depends on where you work, not where you sleep.

Which car fits this community

For most residents a compact or a small sedan is the right answer. Tower bays here are ordinary sized, the internal roads are narrow, and if you commute west every day the fuel and toll exposure of a smaller car is simply lower.

An SUV makes sense for a Cedre family with the driveway and the weekend bags, or for anyone planning desert and Hatta runs where the ground clearance earns its cost. For a single professional working near the DSO offices it's more car than the route needs, and we'd say so rather than sell you the upgrade.

What you actually pay for, and when

We hold no deposit. On a month-long community rental that's the difference between having your card limit and not having it for four weeks.

Salik, the new Parkonic parking charges and any fines are reconciled after you return the car. Each is passed on at the amount actually recorded against the vehicle, with the original charge shown. Fines carry a flat admin fee on top of the RTA figure and nothing else, and we tell you the date and the reason. Because there's no deposit sitting there, nothing gets taken quietly.
