Three across the middle row travel comfortably too. For an airport run with arrivals or a day out with the whole family, everyone rides properly.

The catch is the trade between people and luggage. Behind the third row you've got roughly 722 litres, enough for soft bags and a few cases but not seven full suitcases. Fold the rearmost seats and it jumps to around 2000 litres; drop everything and it's close to 3400 litres. For a full house arriving with full cases, use that third row for one or the other, and the airport run sorts itself out.

What it costs to run, and parking it

No avoiding it: a V8 this big is thirsty. Plan for roughly 14 to 16 litres per 100 km in normal Dubai use, more when you're fully loaded in traffic with the AC fighting the heat. The 91-litre tank keeps the pump visits reasonable, but you'll see one more often than in a smaller SUV, so factor fuel into the week before you book.

Size is the other thing to plan for. At 5382 mm long and 2059 mm wide it's a lot of car to thread through a tight mall bay or a narrow Marina ramp. The surround-view cameras and sensors take most of the stress out, and the 203 mm of clearance handles speed bumps and steep mall entrances without a scrape. It's all-wheel drive, so a graded track to a desert camp is within reach, though serious soft sand is a job for a dedicated 4x4.

Heat, and keeping seven people cool

A cabin this large takes real airflow to cool in a Dubai summer, and the Escalade has it. The climate system is strong and feeds all three rows through separate vents, so passengers in the back aren't left sweating while the front stays comfortable. Parked in the sun it gets hot like anything else, but a couple of minutes moving brings the whole interior down. For a full load in July, those rear vents are what make the difference.

The fine print on your rental

Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental period fall to the renter, so watch the limits on the E11. A child seat is required by law for under-fours and we'll fit one on request.
