Hand a customer the keys to a Hongqi and the first thing they do is ask what it is. That reaction is the whole point of a Hongqi rental in Dubai. It's the Chinese luxury marque almost nobody on Sheikh Zayed Road has driven, plush and quietly grand, and we deliver it to your door with no security deposit to lock up. We rent the H9 saloon and the HS5 crossover, with the all-electric E-HS9 in the mix too. This page is about one choice: the H9 if you want presence and a cosseting back seat for arrivals, the HS5 if you just want a comfortable car for the daily run.

What a Hongqi actually feels like

If you've sat in a recent Lexus or a Genesis, you already know the territory. Hongqi aims at the same calm, the same heavy soft-close doors and quilted seats, and it gets surprisingly close for a brand most renters here have never heard of. The cabins are quiet, the rides lean soft rather than sharp, and the styling is deliberately formal. The H9 in particular wears a tall upright grille that reads more state limousine than sports saloon.

What you're renting is the novelty as much as the comfort. Nobody pulls up to a Marina restaurant in a Hongqi by accident, and that's exactly why some of our customers ask for one. It's a luxury car that doesn't look like every third car in the valet line.

H9 or HS5: which one to book

The honest split is simple. Book the H9 if the car's job is to make an entrance or carry someone in comfort. It's a full-size saloon, the rear seats are where it's at its best, and it suits airport collection at DXB or DWC, a wedding, or any day you want the car noticed. The boot swallows a couple of large cases easily, so a long-stay arrival isn't a problem.

The HS5 is the one we'd point most people toward for ordinary weeks. It's a mid-size SUV, easier to park in a mall structure than the long H9, and the higher seating makes it the more relaxed choice for daily errands across town. Five adults fit without negotiation. If you're choosing between the two and you're not booking it for an occasion, take the HS5.

The E-HS9 is the wildcard. It's the big electric SUV, the most imposing thing Hongqi makes, and it's genuinely quick in a quiet way. It's a strong pick for someone who wants the statement of the H9 with the smoothness of an EV. Just plan around charging before you commit to it, which we'll come back to in the FAQ.

Living with one in Dubai

Cooling is the first thing renters worry about and the first thing we reassure them on. Every Hongqi we hand over has a strong climate system that pulls a hot cabin down fast, which matters far more in a July afternoon than any styling detail. The soft suspension also takes the sting out of the speed bumps in older communities and the expansion joints on the bridges.

Where the H9's length becomes a factor is tight multi-storey parking, so if you live somewhere with cramped bays, that's another nudge toward the HS5. None of our Hongqi cars are built for the dunes. These are tarmac cars, comfortable from the Marina to Abu Dhabi, and we'd steer you to a proper 4WD if a desert weekend is on the plan.

Every rental includes the Salik tag fitted and insurance, your mileage is unlimited, and we deliver and collect across Dubai at no cost, so you can have the car brought to your hotel or villa rather than queuing at a counter.

FAQ — Common Questions Answered.

Is the Hongqi H9 actually comfortable enough for airport pickups and chauffeured runs?

Yes, the H9 is one of the more comfortable saloons we rent for exactly that use. The rear seats are spacious and softly padded, the cabin is quiet at motorway speed, and the long wheelbase smooths out the ride on the way in from DXB or DWC. You get a boot that takes two large suitcases plus a carry-on without a fight. If the job is collecting someone in comfort or making an arrival feel special, it's the one to ask for.

How does charging work if I rent the electric E-HS9?

You charge the E-HS9 at any of Dubai's public stations, including the DEWA EV Green Charger network and the chargers in many mall car parks. We hand the car over with a strong charge and walk you through the nearest options to wherever we deliver it. Plan your longer trips, an Abu Dhabi run for example, around a top-up, since a big electric SUV uses more on the highway. For around-town driving in Dubai you'll rarely think about it.

What's a Hongqi like compared to brands I already know?

A Hongqi sits closest to a Lexus or a Genesis in feel, prioritising quiet comfort over sharp handling. The materials, the soft ride and the hushed cabin all aim at that calm, premium experience rather than a sporty one. The clear difference is rarity, because you'll see plenty of German and Japanese luxury cars in Dubai but almost no Hongqi. If you want something that drives like a known luxury brand but stands out in the valet line, that's the appeal.

Can I drive a Hongqi in Dubai on my home licence?

If you're a tourist, you can drive on your home licence from many countries, and an International Driving Permit is recommended and required for some nationalities, so carry one if your country's licence isn't in English or Arabic. UAE residents need a valid UAE driving licence to rent. Either way you'll need to be at least 22 for the H9 and the larger models, and we verify your documents when we deliver the car. Bring your passport, licence and Emirates ID if you're a resident.

How are Salik tolls and traffic fines handled on the rental?

Your Hongqi comes with a Salik tag already fitted, so you drive through the toll gates without stopping and the charges are settled through your rental. Any traffic fines registered against the car during your hire are passed on to you, since they're tied to whoever was driving. We'd suggest sticking to posted limits, as Dubai's speed cameras are unforgiving. Insurance is included, and you can ask us about the excess that applies before you book so there are no surprises.
