Salik is charged automatically as you pass the gate, so a daily commute toward Downtown or Business Bay adds up over a week. If your trips stay inside Al Nahda and across to Sharjah, you may not touch a gate at all. Linked gates within an hour count as a single charge, which softens longer runs across the city. Parking inside Al Nahda is cheap by Dubai standards. The area falls in the RTA's residential band at roughly AED 2 an hour, with paid hours running daytime into the evening Monday to Saturday, and the streets around the Pond Park are largely free. No deposit, and how tolls and fines are settled

There is no reason to size up just for getting around here.

Size up only if your trips do. A family arriving from DXB with luggage, or planning weekend runs out toward Sharjah, Ajman, or the east coast, will be more comfortable in an SUV.
