Room for the whole group

The Yukon's third row is the rare one that adults can actually sit in, not just children wedged in for a short hop. With all three rows up you still have a proper boot behind them, enough for a real airport pickup rather than a token bag or two. Fold the back rows down and the load bay becomes cavernous, the kind of space that swallows a family's worth of luggage, a couple of strollers and the shopping with room to spare.

The fuel bill, honestly

A 5.3-litre V8 moving nearly three tonnes is never going to sip. Plan on roughly 6 to 8 km/L in mixed Dubai driving, so even the large 91-litre tank means regular stops at the pump on a busy week. If a tight fuel budget is the priority, this is the wrong car, and we'd rather you knew that before you booked.

The toll and fine side is the usual: you cover the Salik charges you run up and any RTA fines from the trip. We include 250 km a day, with extra distance at 3 AED per kilometre, which is worth weighing if you're planning long daily runs out of the city.

Driving something five metres long

At over 5.3 metres, the Yukon needs respect in multi-storey car parks and on the tighter Marina ramps, and some compact bays simply aren't built for it. The upside is that the camera suite and parking sensors are genuinely good, and once you're moving it shrinks around you. On Sheikh Zayed Road it's a relaxed, planted cruiser that eats long distances, and the all-wheel-drive traction is reassuring. The 210 mm of clearance shrugs off speed bumps and kerbs.

Cooling a cabin this size

A cabin this large takes a few minutes to bring down from Dubai-summer hot, but the tri-zone climate system is powerful and there are vents for all three rows, so once it's cooled, everyone aboard feels it, not just the front two. On a full car in August, those rear vents are the difference between a comfortable trip and a mutiny in the third row.

Who needs this much car

Rent the Yukon if you genuinely carry six or seven people and their luggage, or if you simply want a commanding, comfortable highway SUV for long Dubai distances. When the passenger count is real, nothing smaller does the job as cleanly.

If it's usually four people and city errands, this is more vehicle than you need, and the fuel and parking will wear on you. A midsize SUV or a crossover like the Seltos will be cheaper and far easier to live with day to day. The Yukon earns its place only when the space is the whole reason you're booking.
