Six adults, a week of suitcases and a run out to the desert camp past the dunes: that's the trip the big Chevrolets were built for, and it's where most Chevrolet rental Dubai searches start. We deliver any of them to your door or hotel for free, so the Tahoe or Suburban turns up fuelled and ready instead of you queuing at a counter. The brand splits cleanly in Dubai. There's the cheap city end (Spark, Groove, Malibu, Captiva) and the full-size SUV end (Tahoe, Suburban), with the Camaro sitting off to the side for fun. This page helps you pick the right end of that range.

Do you actually need the full-size Tahoe or Suburban

Most people who ask for a big Chevy don't need one. If it's two adults and a couple of kids around Dubai, a Captiva or Trailblazer seats five, swallows the airport luggage and costs a lot less to fill up.

The Tahoe earns its keep when the group is genuinely large or the cargo is. Seven or eight seats, and with the third row up you still get real boot space behind it, not the token slot most seven-seaters leave you. The Suburban is the longer-wheelbase version of the same idea. Stretch it for the extra cargo, not extra seats, because the seating is much the same. If you're moving six people plus a fortnight of bags, or running a group between DXB, the hotel and a desert camp, the Suburban is the one that doesn't make you choose what to leave behind.

Both ride high and tow happily, and they're settled at speed on the run to Abu Dhabi or down to Hatta. They are not built for the Marina. Multi-storey ramps and tight mall bays are a genuine chore in something this long, and you feel every speed bump and parking sensor. Our honest steer: book the full-size only when the people or the bags justify it. Otherwise you're paying to park a barge.

The cheaper, smarter picks for city driving

For most Dubai trips the small end of the range is the right call. The Spark is the runabout: easy through Karama traffic, simple to slot into a mall bay, light on fuel. The Groove and Captiva move you up to a small SUV with a higher seat and more room for the weekly shop or a few passengers. The Malibu is the sedan choice if you'd rather a quiet, comfortable highway cruiser for the Sheikh Zayed Road commute than anything that sits tall.

Pick by the job. Solo or a couple staying near the Marina or Downtown, take the Spark or Malibu and enjoy the parking and the fuel bill. A small family or a few colleagues, the Captiva or Trailblazer covers it without the bulk. The jump to a Tahoe should be a deliberate choice about space, not a default because it looks the part.

The Camaro, and who it's for

The Camaro is the outlier: a rear-drive V8 coupe you rent for the drive, not the errands. It's a weekend car for a cruise down Jumeirah Beach Road or a blast toward Hatta, and it turns heads doing it. Two usable seats, a boot that takes soft bags rather than suitcases, and a thirst to match the noise. Renters need to be at least 25 for the Camaro, where most of our other Chevrolets open up earlier. If you want one for a long weekend, book ahead, because we hold only a few and they go first on public holidays.

Fuel, tolls and the running cost

The honest catch with the V8 Tahoe and Suburban is the fuel. They drink, and a week of long highway runs adds up, though UAE pump prices keep it far gentler than it would be elsewhere. If your trip is mostly city miles, that's another reason the Spark or Captiva makes more sense.

Salik is sorted regardless of which one you pick. Every car leaves with a tag fitted, so the Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Maktoum Bridge gates are handled and you're not topping up an account yourself. Insurance comes with the car too, and there's no security deposit to lock up on your card. Mileage is unlimited, which matters most on the big SUVs, since the trips that justify a Suburban tend to be the long ones.

How delivery and handover work

We bring the car to you, fuelled and cleaned, anywhere in Dubai including both airports. DXB is the usual arrivals pickup; for DWC or a Marina hotel, give us the terminal or address and a time. Handover takes a few minutes: a quick walk around the car, your licence and ID checked, keys across, done. We collect it the same way at the end, so you don't lose a morning returning it.

Visitors can drive on a valid licence from most countries paired with an International Driving Permit, and many nationalities are recognised directly on a passport-and-licence basis. Residents drive on a UAE licence. If you're unsure whether your home licence qualifies, send us a photo before you book and we'll confirm.

FAQ — Common Questions Answered.

Which Chevrolet should I rent for a large family in Dubai?

For a genuinely large group the Tahoe or Suburban is the right call, because both seat seven or eight and still leave real luggage room with the third row up. The Suburban is the longer one, so choose it when the bags outnumber the people or you're loading a fortnight of cases. If it's only two adults and two kids, a Captiva or Trailblazer does the job for far less fuel and far easier parking. Tell us your group size and luggage and we'll match the right one.

How expensive are the big Chevrolet SUVs to run on fuel?

The V8 Tahoe and Suburban use noticeably more fuel than the smaller models, especially on long highway days to Abu Dhabi or Hatta. UAE pump prices keep the sting far smaller than in Europe or the US, but a week of big mileage still shows. If most of your driving is city errands, the Spark, Groove or Captiva will cost you a fraction to fill. Unlimited mileage is included on every car, so distance itself never adds a charge.

Do I need an International Driving Permit to rent a Chevrolet here?

You need a licence that's valid for the UAE, and for many visitors that means your home licence plus an International Driving Permit. A number of nationalities are recognised on a passport-and-licence basis without the permit, and UAE residents simply use their local licence. The rules go by your country of issue, not the car, so a Spark and a Tahoe have the same requirement. Send us a photo of your licence before booking and we'll tell you exactly what you need.

How are Salik tolls and traffic fines handled?

Every Chevrolet we rent comes with a Salik tag already fitted, so the toll gates across Dubai charge automatically and you don't manage an account. Tolls used during your rental are settled against the booking, so there's nothing to top up mid-trip. Traffic fines incurred while the car is with you remain your responsibility, and we'll pass on any that reach us after you return it. Drive to the limits and watch the speed cameras and most renters never see one.

What's the minimum age to rent the Camaro?

You need to be at least 25 to rent the Camaro, a little higher than several of our other Chevrolets because it's a powerful rear-drive V8. You'll also need a valid licence and, for most visitors, an International Driving Permit. We keep only a few Camaros, so book ahead for weekends and public holidays when they're claimed first. If you're under 25 and want something sporty, ask us and we'll suggest an alternative you can take.
