A sharp American coupe makes sense in Dubai when the drive itself is the point: an early-morning run down Sheikh Zayed Road with the top stowed, a weekend loop out past the dunes, the kind of week where the car is the plan rather than the way to get to it. The Chevrolet Camaro 2022 rents in Dubai with doorstep delivery in one to two hours, so it reaches you wherever you are without a desk visit. What this page is really here to settle is simpler: this is the agile, corner-happy Camaro with the 2.0 turbo, and you rent it for how it drives, not for what it carries.
The version on our fleet is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four, not the V6 or the 6.2 V8 you'll read about elsewhere. It makes 275 horsepower, sends it to the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox, and clears 0 to 100 km/h in about 5.5 seconds. That's quick enough to feel genuinely fast in traffic without the V8's fuel bill or its weight over the nose.
And weight over the nose is the whole story here. The four-cylinder Camaro is the lighter, more eager car to point through a bend. Where a big-V8 muscle coupe wants a long straight and rewards a heavy right foot, this one likes a quick steering input and a corner taken with intent. The chassis is the star, the engine just keeps up nicely. If you've driven the heavier American cruisers and found them lazy in the turns, the turbo Camaro is the one that answers back.

This is where the car earns its keep. The turbo four pulls hard from low revs, so slotting into a gap on the E11 or pulling clean past a lorry needs barely a thought. Rear-wheel drive and a low centre of gravity mean it sits flat and planted at cruising speed, and it has the legs to reach a 240 km/h top speed it will never need on a public road. With the roof down on a cooler morning, it's one of the more enjoyable ways to cover the Dubai-to-Abu Dhabi stretch.
A practical note for the open road: you'll pass through Salik gantries, and those tolls are billed to you, as are any RTA speeding fines. Seat belts are mandatory front and rear. The Camaro is fast and the limits are well enforced, so the cruise control is your friend.
Dubai summers run into the high 40s, and a dark coupe baking in an open lot gets hot fast. The Camaro's AC is strong once it's working, and the cabin is small, so it pulls a parked car down to comfortable within a few minutes rather than the slow grind a big SUV cabin demands. The catch is the low, letterbox windscreen and tight glasshouse, which trap heat at the dash before the vents catch up. Park in shade or basement levels when you can, and on a fierce afternoon give it a minute with the doors open before you climb in.
The convertible roof is the trade-off in summer. It's a treat from October to April and at dawn year-round. In July at midday, you'll keep it up and lean on the AC.
The Camaro is long and wide, nearly 4.8 metres nose to tail and almost 1.9 metres across, and it sits very low. That combination is the daily friction. In a tight Marina multi-storey, the width eats into the bay and the low nose limits what you can see over, so reversing in with the camera is the calm way to do it. The bigger issue is ramps and speed bumps. Dubai has plenty of both, and a low front lip means you take steep mall entrances and aggressive bumps slowly and at an angle. Scrape one fast and you'll feel it.
Visibility out of the back is poor with the roof up, the rear screen is small, and the blind spots are real. None of this is a dealbreaker, but it's the price of the shape.
Four seats are listed, two are usable. The rear bench is for bags or a short hop, not for adults on a real journey, and getting back there past a folded front seat is a job. The boot is tiny at roughly 200 litres, and the convertible's roof mechanism eats into it further. One soft weekend bag and a backpack is a realistic load. Two people with hard suitcases for a week will be packing creatively or shipping a case ahead.
Fuel is the other reality. Expect somewhere near 10 to 11 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, more if you enjoy the throttle, which you will. The 72-litre tank gives a comfortable range between stops, so it's range you have, not running cost. Premium fuel and a willing right foot add up over a week.
Rent the Camaro 2022 for the drive. If you want a fast, sharp, rear-drive American coupe that feels alive on a highway run and a winding road, and you're happy to drop the top on a good morning, it delivers exactly that and delivers it to your door. Two people travelling light, a couple wanting a fun week, or anyone who just wants the car to be the occasion: this is your pick.
Skip it if you need practicality. For four adults, real luggage, a family, or daily airport runs with cases, the boot and back seats will frustrate you, and a sedan or crossover makes more sense. Rent this one with clear eyes about parking and fuel, and you'll get the week you came for.
