Most of the Mustang bookings we take look the same. Two people, a long weekend, and a plan that involves the roof coming down somewhere along the coast road once the sun has dropped. If that is roughly your week, you can rent a Ford Mustang 2024 in Dubai from us at eighteen, which is three years younger than most desks in this city will hand over the keys to a rear-wheel-drive convertible. The driving is the easy part. The packing is not, because this is a four-seat car on paper with a 292-litre boot, and the sooner you plan around that number the better the week goes.
Behind the rear seats you get 292 litres. That is small in absolute terms and smaller than the previous Mustang convertible managed, so treat the figure as the ceiling rather than the working space.
The bigger problem is the shape of the opening. The folded soft top lives in a well behind the cabin, and what is left is a letterbox slot rather than a proper hatch. A hard case that fits on volume can simply refuse to go through the gap, which is a conversation we have at the kerb more often than we would like. Soft bags solve it. Two people with a cabin case each and a couple of holdalls will be fine. Two people with two large hard shells will be putting one on a back seat and driving with the roof up, and if you are collecting a third person from the airport at the same time, the arithmetic stops working entirely.
Golf clubs, a pram, a week of shopping for a family: none of that belongs in this car.
The back is a two-plus-two, which in this car means a padded ledge with belts on it. Children fit for a short run across town. Adults do not, and that includes an adult you like. If your weekend involves four people going to dinner together, you need a second car or a different one, and it is worth settling that before you book rather than at the door.
Up front the news is much better. The cabin is wide, the seats hold you properly, and the twin-screen dashboard in this generation reads clearly even in full sun. It is a comfortable place to spend two hours on the highway, which is more than you can say for most cars bought for their looks.

Two engines circulate in the local fleet, the 2.3-litre turbocharged four and the 5.0-litre V8, and the page you booked from does not name one. Ask us which car is coming before you commit, because the difference shows up on your fuel bill every day of the rental.
On a 61-litre tank the four covers roughly 550 to 600 km of mixed Dubai driving. The V8, driven the way it asks to be driven, is nearer 400. Over a seven-day rental that is two or three extra stops, and at current pump prices it is a real line in the budget rather than a rounding error.
Mileage is 300 km a day, and anything past that is AED 0.5 per kilometre. For a week spent between the city, the coast and one long evening drive, you will not get close to the cap. A daily round trip out to Hatta and back would eat it, so plan that one deliberately. Salik tolls during your rental are billed to you, as are any RTA fines, and the gantries on the main east to west route add up quickly if you are crossing the city twice a day.
At 1,915 mm across the mirrors fold in for a reason. Multi-storey bays in the older mall car parks are tight for this car, and reversing into one with the roof up is a mirrors-and-camera job because over-the-shoulder visibility is poor. The nose also sits low with a long overhang, so steep ramps and the harder residential speed bumps want a slow, angled approach. Nothing about that is unusual for a sports car, but it is a daily habit you have to pick up rather than an occasional inconvenience.
Then there is the fabric roof. Cloth insulates less than metal, so a Mustang convertible parked in open sun in July gets brutally hot inside, and the belt buckles will let you know. Open the doors for thirty seconds to push the trapped air out before you get in, then let the front vents work. The cabin is small enough that the air conditioning wins quickly once you are moving. Rear passengers get very little airflow, which is one more reason the back seats are for bags.
As for dropping the top, the honest Dubai answer is that it belongs to the calendar. Roughly November to March you can use it whenever you like. The rest of the year it is a dawn and after-dark pleasure, and midday in the high forties with the roof folded is endurance rather than fun.
Rent it if there are two of you, you are travelling light, and the point of the week is the car itself. That is the customer this Mustang is built for and the one who gets their money's worth. If the sound is what you came for, take the V8 and budget the extra fuel without complaining about it later.
Skip it if you are landing at the airport as a family, if you need a boot you do not have to negotiate with, or if your week is mostly errands and school runs. A midsize sedan or a crossover will cost less, swallow the luggage and never once make you repack at the kerb. The Mustang is a car you rent for two good days, and it is honest about everything it gives up to be that.
