We deliver the Volkswagen Golf 2023 to your door in Dubai in about one to two hours, and the surprise for most renters is that a 245 hp hot hatch turns out to be the sensible single car for a week here. This is the GTI, so it's quick, but the reason to book it isn't the headline power. It's that one compact five-door handles the morning commute, the airport run and a fast blast down Sheikh Zayed Road without asking you to compromise on any of them. That's the argument on this page: most weeks in Dubai you don't need two cars or a bigger one, you need a Golf.
A lot of renters split the difference, booking something small and slow for the city and wishing they had more on the highway. The Golf removes that trade. It's under 4.3 metres long, so Marina towers and mall bays are no fight, and the steering is light at parking speed. Then you get on the E11 and the same car has the reach to merge and overtake without planning the move three cars ahead. Few economy hatches can do both. This one does, and it does them well enough that you stop thinking about the car and just drive.

The table is the reference. The rest of the page is what those numbers mean for your seven days.
This is the question that decides a summer rental, and the Golf does well on it for one simple reason: there isn't much cabin to cool. Park it in open sun at midday in July and the dash gets untouchable like every car here. Once you're moving, though, the AC pulls a small five-seat cabin down to comfortable within a couple of minutes, and the front vents hit hard. The catch is the back row. There are no separate rear vents, so passengers behind you sit a beat warmer on the worst afternoons. For two up front it's cold quickly. For four people in the height of summer, factor that in.
The 7.4 L/100km on the spec sheet is the WLTP combined figure, and you won't see it in Dubai. With the AC working against 45-degree heat and the occasional urge to use all 245 horses, plan on something nearer 9 to 10 litres per 100 km in mixed city driving. Off the 50-litre tank that's a real range of roughly 500 to 550 km. A normal week of errands, a beach trip and one longer run means one fill-up, maybe two if you commute long distances daily. Drive it gently on the highway and you'll do better than that. The 250 km a day we include covers most renters without ever touching the extra-kilometre charge.
The 374-litre boot is genuinely useful for a hatch this size. Two large suitcases plus a soft bag fit for a DXB or DWC pickup, and a full grocery run disappears without folding anything. Drop the rear seats and the space opens to 1,230 litres, enough for flat-pack furniture or a couple of bikes. The limit is four adults plus a full set of hard cases for a week away. That's the one scenario where I'd point you at a sedan or a larger crossover instead. For two or three people with normal luggage, the Golf has more room than its footprint suggests.
At 4,287 mm long and 1,789 mm wide, the Golf slots into tight bays and Marina ramps without the shuffling an SUV needs, and the light steering makes U-turns easy. The number to respect is the ride height. At 136 mm of clearance this GTI sits low on sport suspension, so steep mall ramps and the more aggressive speed bumps want a slow, square approach or the front lip will scrape. It's not a deal-breaker, just a habit you build on day one. As the renter you cover Salik tolls on the gates you pass, and any RTA fine comes back to you, so the easy pace this car invites is worth keeping in check. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat.
Rent the Golf 2023 if you want one car that does everything a Dubai week throws at it and you'd rather enjoy the drive than tolerate it. It's the pick for two or three people who value how a car handles and don't want to choose between a slow city box and something thirsty and big. Look elsewhere in two cases. If your week is four adults with full airport luggage, a sedan makes more sense. And if you'll spend most of it crawling over steep ramps and rough tracks, the low clearance becomes a daily annoyance and a crossover suits you better. For everyone in between, this is the most complete car on the lot, and with doorstep delivery and 250 km a day built in, it's an easy one to book.
