Kia Soul 2021 - start from 103 AED / day

We hand over the Kia Soul 2021 at your door in Dubai, usually within one to two hours of booking, so you can skip the rental-desk queue entirely. The Soul is the odd one out in this price bracket: a tall, square little car that looks small from the kerb but swallows people and bags like something a class up. That shape is the whole point of this page. If you want personality and real usable space on an economy budget, the Soul earns its keep. If you're carrying four adults and a week of airport luggage, it has limits, and I'll be honest about where they start.

What kind of car this actually is

The 24baba listing files the Soul under Economy hatchback, and that's fair on price. But the body is really a boxy compact crossover-hatch, and the shape changes how it feels to live with. The roofline sits high and flat, the glass is deep, and you sit upright and look out. That makes Dubai's multi-storey ramps and tight U-turns far less stressful than they are in a low, swoopy hatch.

Under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre petrol four making 123 hp, paired to an automatic gearbox driving the front wheels. That's a modest engine, and I won't pretend otherwise. It's relaxed rather than quick. Around the city and on the school run it's perfectly fine. Loaded up and merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road, you'll want a longer gap and a firmer right foot.

Treat the table as reference. The numbers that actually decide your rental are the ones I'll talk through below.

Does my luggage fit

This is where the box shape pays off. The boot holds around 315 litres with the rear seats up, which on paper sounds ordinary. In practice the tall, square load space is more useful than the figure suggests, because you stack upward instead of cramming flat. Two people doing a week in Dubai will fit two medium cases and the soft bags without folding anything.

Push past that and you start trading seats for space. Drop the rear bench and the Soul opens into a genuinely large, flat-floored hold, easily enough for a Dubai Mall run that gets out of hand or a couple of weeks of groceries and a stroller. The honest line is this: as a two-up car with cargo, the Soul is excellent. As a four-adults-plus-luggage airport car, it's tight, and a small sedan or a proper crossover will serve you better.

Heat, the cabin and the AC

Every rental in Dubai lives or dies by the air conditioning, and the Soul's tall cabin cuts both ways. There's a lot of glass and a lot of air volume to cool, so on a 45-degree afternoon a cabin that's been baking in a car park takes a few minutes to come down. Once it does, the system holds temperature well, and the upright dashboard puts the front vents close to you. There are no rear vents to speak of, so on the hottest days passengers in the back rely on airflow from the front. Park in shade where you can, set it cold on the move, and it copes fine for daily city use.

Parking, speed bumps and Dubai roads

For getting around, the Soul is one of the easier small cars to place. At a touch over four metres long with big windows and that high seating position, slotting into a tight Marina bay or a packed mall level is straightforward. Ground clearance sits around 160 mm, which is enough for Dubai's speed bumps and steep parking ramps without the nervous scrape you get in a low hatch. It is not an off-roader, though. Keep it to tarmac and the school run. For Hatta passes or any soft sand, this is the wrong car and you should size up to a 4x4.

Out on the E11 the Soul cruises happily at the legal limit, stable and quiet enough at 100 to 120. Ask it to overtake briskly with a full load and the 123 hp shows its limit, so plan your moves a little earlier and it's an easy, calm motorway car.

Fuel, range and running it for a week

The 1.6 petrol is efficient without being remarkable. Around town in Dubai traffic, expect real-world consumption in the region of 7 to 8 litres per 100 km, dropping on a steady highway run. With a tank near 54 litres, a typical week of mixed city and airport driving means one fuel stop, maybe two if you're commuting daily across the city. Petrol here is cheap, so the Soul is genuinely inexpensive to run for the week, which is most of its appeal as an economy rental.

Two Dubai admin notes worth stating plainly. Salik tolls are charged to you as the renter when you pass a gate, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you as well. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat. None of that is unusual, but it's yours to budget for.

Who should rent the Soul, and who shouldn't

Rent the Soul if you're one or two people who want a car with character and more room than its footprint promises: solo residents, couples, small families doing mall runs, grocery hauls and the occasional airport pickup with sensible luggage. It parks easily, runs cheap, and feels nicer to sit in than most economy cars at this rate.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If you regularly carry four adults plus full airport luggage, the boot and rear space get tight, so a compact sedan or a midsize crossover fits the job better. And if your week involves desert tracks or Hatta, the front-wheel-drive Soul isn't built for it. For everyone in between, this is one of the more likeable small cars we hand over, and we can have it at your door in Dubai within a couple of hours.
