The cheapest sensible way to get around Dubai for a week is a small automatic that sips fuel, and the Suzuki Celerio 2025 is about as close to that as the fleet gets. We rent it from 18 when most of the market makes you wait until 21, and we'll deliver it to your door in one to two hours. Here's the honest pitch. The Celerio is a city runabout, built for errands, the school run, the daily commute, and short hops across town, and on those jobs it's almost impossible to beat on cost. Where it struggles is space and high-speed highway work, and we won't pretend otherwise. What decides this rental is fuel economy, how it parks, and whether it has enough puff for your week, so we'll take those in turn.
This is the Celerio's whole reason to exist. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol is tuned for economy, and in real Dubai city driving you'll see around 18 to 20 km per litre, which is exceptional. The tank is small at 32 litres, but it barely matters when the engine drinks this little, because Suzuki quotes a range of up to 853 km on a full tank. In practice that means a week of school runs, grocery trips and commuting on one fill, maybe two if you're piling on highway miles. For anyone watching the budget on a longer stay, that's the number that pays for the trip. You'll drive past petrol stations that other renters are pulling into.
At 3,695 mm long the Celerio is tiny, and in Dubai that's a gift. It slots into the tight bays in older multi-storey car parks, ducks into spaces a crossover would circle three times for, and makes U-turns on busy roads without a three-point shuffle. The light steering takes the work out of low-speed manoeuvring, so threading through a packed Deira side street or a mall basement is easy. Ground clearance is a useful 170 mm, higher than you'd expect from a car this size, so speed bumps and the ramps into mall entrances don't have you crawling or scraping. If your week is mostly stop-start city driving, the Celerio's size turns the daily annoyances of Dubai parking into non-events.

We rent both gearboxes, and our advice is clear. The manual is the cheaper, slightly more economical pick, but in Dubai's stop-and-go traffic the automatic is worth the small premium for the comfort alone. It's an AMT, which means it shifts a touch slowly when you push it hard, so drive it relaxed and it's smooth and easy. The honest caveat is power. With 67 hp, the Celerio is happy up to about 100 km/h, but ask it to overtake at speed on Sheikh Zayed Road or hold 120 into a headwind and it runs out of breath. For the occasional airport run to DXB it's fine if you plan your overtakes. For daily high-speed highway commuting across the emirates, you'll want something with more under the bonnet.
Dubai's summer puts every rental's AC to the test, and the Celerio's small cabin actually helps here, because there's less air to cool. The front vents are strong and pull a baking parked car down to comfortable in a couple of minutes. There are no rear vents, but the cabin is short enough that the cold air reaches the back without much trouble. On space, be realistic: this is a five-seater on paper, but four is the comfortable number, and the boot takes one large suitcase plus a soft bag or two, not a family's full week of luggage. Salik tolls and any RTA fines pass to the renter, and a child seat is required for under-fours, which we can fit on request. We accept card, cash, bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay and crypto.
Rent the Celerio 2025 if you want the cheapest practical automatic for city life: errands, the commute, the school run, and short trips where fuel economy and easy parking matter more than anything else. For a single driver or a couple staying in town, it's the smart money. Size up to a small sedan or a compact SUV if you're carrying four adults and airport cases, or if your week involves long stretches of highway above 100 where the little engine would rather not live. Match the Celerio to city driving and it does that job better, and cheaper, than almost anything else we hand over.
