If your week in Dubai is mostly errands, the school run and a daily commute, the Suzuki Baleno 2025 is about the cheapest sensible automatic for the job, and we deliver one across the city in one to two hours with a pay-on-delivery option. The Baleno is a five-seat economy hatchback that's small enough to park anywhere yet roomier inside than its footprint hints. Our argument is simple: for city life on a budget, this car covers the work without much thought and barely touches the fuel pump. Where it falls short is pace and outright luggage space, and we'll be straight about both so you book the right car.
This is the part you'll appreciate every single day. At under four metres long with light steering and a tight turning circle, the Baleno slots into bays that bigger cars circle twice and skip. Packed Marina car parks, the steep ramps in multi-storey blocks, tight U-turns on a side street: none of it asks much of you. The 150 mm of ground clearance is modest, so you take the sharper mall ramps and the taller speed bumps gently, but it doesn't scrape on normal Dubai roads. For someone darting between errands all week, this easy placement is worth more than any spec on the sheet.

The Baleno sips. Official figures are 12 km/L in the city and 15 on the highway, and in real Dubai driving, with the AC fighting the heat and plenty of stop-start, plan for the city end. The tank is small at 37 litres, so the headline range of about 444 km looks short, but you're using so little that it works out cheap. A normal week of school runs, supermarket trips and the odd commute means one fill, maybe two if you cover real distance. Few automatics in this bracket cost less to keep moving.
The cabin is the pleasant surprise. For a car this short, three adults fit across the back without complaint, and head and shoulder room beat the price. The trim is plain, hard plastics and a no-frills dash, but it all works and nothing rattles. The boot holds a large 23 kg case plus a couple of medium bags with the seats up, and the square shape makes it easy to load. Fold the 60:40 rear bench and it opens right up for a flat-pack run or a big grocery haul. The honest limit is airport luggage for a full car: four adults with four large hard cases will be stacking bags on laps. For a DXB or DWC hop with two or three people and normal bags, it's comfortable.
A small cabin has one clear summer advantage: less air to cool. Park the Baleno in the sun at 45 degrees and the AC pulls the heat out faster than a big sedan would, simply because there's less space to chill. The front vents push hard and the cabin settles within a few minutes. There are no rear vents, so back-seat passengers wait a beat for the cold air to reach them, fine for two on city trips and slower to even out with a full car. On the road the Baleno is easy up to highway-merge speed, then shows its limits. Push past 100 on Sheikh Zayed Road and overtaking needs planning, the engine gets vocal under a quick burst, and the light body gets nudged by crosswinds. It'll cruise at the limit all day, but it isn't built to hustle. A few Dubai basics apply: Salik tolls run off the car back to you, RTA fines during the hire are yours, and belts are mandatory in every seat.
Rent it if you want the cheapest sensible automatic for town: errands, the school run, the commute, a small family that values low fuel bills and easy parking over badge or pace. For that renter it's hard to beat, and the pay-on-delivery option keeps things simple. Skip it if you want some fun behind the wheel, where the livelier Swift makes more sense on a similar budget. And if you're carrying four adults with full airport luggage or living on the highway between emirates, a compact sedan gives you the bigger boot and steadier high-speed manners the Baleno can't quite match. For everyone else in the city, it does exactly what a cheap rental should.
