Nissan Armada 2024 - start from 576 AED / day

If your Dubai week means airport pickups for a full crew and long, comfortable highway miles, the Nissan Armada 2024 is one of the easiest big rentals to justify, and we deliver it to your door across the city. This is a full-size, seven-seat SUV with a 5.6-litre V8 and four-wheel drive, the kind of vehicle that treats a DXB run with six people and their luggage as routine. The argument here is about comfort per dirham: the Armada gives you genuine full-size space and a torquey V8 for noticeably less than the badges above it. What it asks in return is that you actually need the size, because it's a lot of car to run for a small load.

The highway cruiser it really is

Start with what the Armada does best, because that's the reason to book it. On Sheikh Zayed Road the V8 makes overtaking effortless. There's easy mid-range pull, so slipping past a slow lorry on the E11 needs no run-up, and at 120 the cabin is quiet and settled. Long airport transfers and inter-emirate drives are exactly its comfort zone, where a heavy body and a big engine turn into calm, planted progress rather than strain.

The four-wheel drive and the generous 234 mm of clearance also make it capable when the tarmac ends. A Hatta dam run or firm desert tracks are well within its range. Serious soft-sand dune work in a vehicle this heavy needs proper tyre deflation and some experience, but for the trips most renters actually take, it does more than you'll ask.

The seven-seat layout is the point. The third row is usable by adults on a normal trip, not the token jump seats you find in smaller three-row SUVs, and there's still 578 litres behind it, enough for a full grocery shop or a stack of bags without folding anything. Drop the rear rows and you get up to 2750 litres, proper moving-house space.

The honest version for an airport run: five or six passengers with a week of luggage travel in comfort. Fill all seven seats and you also want seven big cases, and something rides up front or on a lap, the same as any three-row SUV. Wide rear doors make child seats easy to fit, which under-fours need by law here.

The fuel bill, stated plainly

No dodging this: the V8 drinks. Expect roughly 14 to 15 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, and worse when you're crawling in Sheikh Zayed traffic with the AC fighting the heat. The near-98-litre tank gives a realistic combined range around 660 km, so a tank still lasts a busy week of city running, but you'll feel the cost more than in any four-cylinder SUV. That's the trade for seven usable seats and an engine that never feels stretched. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental fall to the renter, so plan your gates and watch your speed.

Keeping a big cabin cool

Park a cabin this size in a July car park and it bakes. The Armada's saving grace is vent coverage: strong front vents plus outlets feeding the second and third rows, so the back doesn't roast while the front gets cold. From a 45-degree soak it takes a few minutes of fan on high to become pleasant, longer than a small car because there's far more air to move, but once it's down it holds temperature well with bodies in every seat. For a family with kids in the back, those rear outlets earn their keep.

The size, and where it bites

The catch is manoeuvring. At over five metres long and past two metres wide, the Armada fills a standard mall bay and leaves little door-swing room. Tight Marina ramps and older multi-storey towers ask for patience and a careful eye on the mirrors. Speed bumps are a non-issue with the clearance, but narrow residential streets and valet-only car parks are where you'll wish for something smaller. If most of your week is solo errands in packed basements, this is the wrong tool and the fuel bill will remind you daily.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Armada 2024 if you've got a big family or a group, a real luggage load, and a week built around highway cruising, airport runs and the odd desert outing. For that brief it's comfortable, strong and good value against the pricier full-size crowd.

Skip it if you're one or two people doing city errands, where the size and fuel cost aren't worth it and a mid-size SUV parks easier and runs far cheaper. And if you want sharper road manners and a more modern cabin in the same three-row bracket, the Nissan Patrol is the natural step up in price and polish. The Armada's case is plain: space, a strong V8, seven seats that genuinely work, and a rate that undercuts the badges above it.
