A tight Marina basement bay or a mall's lower level swallows the MG 3 2025 without a second attempt, which is most of the case for renting the smallest, cheapest car in our Dubai fleet. We get it to your door within one to two hours of booking, and the daily rate undercuts almost everything else we carry. This is a car for short, simple trips around the city rather than a long touring week, and the detail that decides whether it is actually good value is the mileage allowance: 2,500 km covers the whole rental, not each day, so what that is worth depends entirely on how long you keep the car.

The mileage deal, and what it's worth

Most rental cars in Dubai quote a daily allowance. This one doesn't. The MG 3 2025 comes with 2,500 km for the entire booking, and anything past that costs AED 1.0 per kilometre. Over a week, that works out to roughly 357 km a day, more than a city renter burns even with a full schedule of errands, school runs and the odd airport transfer. Stretch the same 2,500 km across a full month and it drops to about 83 km a day, which still covers a normal commute but leaves little room for weekend trips to Al Ain or a run out to Abu Dhabi.

The number that matters is not the total, it is your trip length. Book this car for a week or two and the allowance is generous, effectively unlimited for anything you would actually do in the city. Book it for a month and start tracking the odometer, because AED 1.0 per extra kilometre adds up fast if you are commuting a long distance every day. You also need to be 22 or older to collect the keys, a point worth checking before you commit to the rate.

Room for people and bags

At 293 litres the boot is small even by hatchback standards, big enough for one large suitcase and a soft bag, not a proper second case. Two people flying into DXB or DWC with a week's luggage will make it work without folding a seat down. A family of four with a case each won't, and the MG 3 isn't the car for that trip. Up front, two adults sit comfortably enough for a full day out. The back seat suits two more on a short hop across town, a squeeze for three, and best kept for kids on anything longer than a quick mall run.

This is the smallest MG we rent, noticeably tighter than the ZS crossover or the MG5 sedan in the same fleet, and the price reflects that. What the small footprint buys back is ease. At 4,113 mm long, it drops into a standard Marina tower bay or a mall's lower level without edging back and forth, and a U-turn on a narrow residential street takes one clean movement rather than three. The 132 mm ground clearance is on the low side, so take a steep basement ramp or a sharp speed bump gently. Rush it and you'll hear it scrape.

Running cost, heat and the cabin

The 1.5-litre engine makes 108 hp and 140 Nm, sent to the front wheels through a CVT. That's enough for town driving at 60 to 80 km/h, and the gearbox stays smooth pulling away from a Marina roundabout or a red light near the mall. Push it onto Sheikh Zayed Road and the ceiling shows up quickly: it will hold 120 km/h, but a loaded overtake wants planning rather than a stab of the throttle, more so with four aboard.

MG quotes combined economy around 6.6 litres per 100 km, and that's a factory number rather than a guarantee. Dubai's stop-and-go traffic and the AC working against summer heat push real consumption higher, but the 45-litre tank still covers a realistic 500 km or so of city driving before a fill-up, which usually means one stop during a normal week. Dubai summers push a parked cabin into the high 40s, and this small a cabin actually works in its favour: there is less air for the front vents to fight. Climb back in after a few hours in a car park and expect the worst of the heat gone within a few minutes on the move rather than a long crawl. It's a basic climate system doing a basic job, not one with rear vents, so a back-seat passenger waits slightly longer for cool air than the driver does.

Who should rent it, and who should size up

Rent the MG 3 2025 if the rate is what decides the booking and your week is mostly city driving on a short rental: a solo commuter, a couple keeping costs down, or a light airport run with one bag each. Nothing else in the fleet matches this price, and around town the small footprint and modest engine work with you rather than against you.

Size up if you are traveling as two couples or a family of four with real luggage, since the 293-litre boot and the back seat both run out of room at the same time. A month-long booking is also worth rethinking on this car specifically: the 2,500 km allowance that looks generous over a week gets thin over four weeks, and an MG5 or ZS with a daily allowance may work out cheaper once you add up the extra kilometres. For a short, budget city stay with light luggage, the MG 3 2025 is the easiest and cheapest way to get around Dubai in this fleet.
