The MG3 2024 is the cheapest hatchback we rent in Dubai, and for a week of pure city driving that is the whole argument for booking it. We deliver it to your door within one to two hours, cash and debit cards both fine at handover, and the daily rate sits under almost everything else in the fleet. It is a small car built for small jobs: the commute, the grocery run, the odd trip to the mall. This page settles the one question that actually matters here, which is how much car that low rate buys you, and where the savings stop paying off.
Running cost is the reason this car is in the fleet at all. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four makes 108 hp and 140 Nm through a CVT automatic, driving the front wheels. MG quotes combined economy around 6.6 litres per 100 km. Treat that as a showroom number. Real Dubai driving, with the AC working against the heat and traffic that never quite flows, lands closer to 8, but this is still one of the least expensive cars on the fleet to keep fed.
The tank holds 45 litres, good for around 500 km of realistic city driving before you need to find a station, so a normal week of errands and commuting means one stop at the pump, maybe two. The daily allowance is 250 km, and anything past that runs AED 0.5 per extra kilometre, which covers ordinary use easily but adds up on a day trip to Al Ain or Hatta.
Two costs sit outside the fuel bill and both land on you. Salik charges at every toll gate, and a daily Sheikh Zayed Road commute stacks those up quietly. Any RTA fine during the rental is also yours. One more figure worth knowing before you book: the minimum age on this car is 25, higher than the 21 you will find on most economy hatchbacks in Dubai, so confirm you clear that bar before you commit to the rate.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder |
| Power | 108 hp |
| Torque | 140 Nm |
| Transmission | CVT automatic |
| Drive | Front-wheel drive |
| Seats | 5 |
| Boot | 293 litres |
| Fuel economy | Around 6.6 L/100km combined (quoted) |
| Fuel tank | 45 litres |

At 293 litres, the boot is the smallest number on this page and the first thing to plan around. It takes one large suitcase and a laptop bag, maybe a squashed soft holdall if you skip the second case. Two people flying into DXB or DWC for a week will make it work. Two couples sharing one car with four bags between them will not, and no amount of clever packing changes that.
The cabin is more generous than the boot suggests. Two adults sit comfortably up front, and two more fit in the back for a short hop across town, though three across the rear bench is a squeeze best kept to kids or a quick mall run. Put four adults in for a full day with bags in the boot and the rear legroom starts to feel tight, particularly for anyone taller than average.
Parking is the easy part of running this car for a week. At 4.1 metres long it drops into the tightest Marina tower bay or mall multi-storey slot without a second attempt, and it is short enough for a clean U-turn on a narrow residential street. It sits low, so take a steep basement ramp or a sharp speed bump gently rather than at speed, and you will not hear it scrape.
The 108 hp is enough for the job this car is built for, which is town driving at 60 to 80 km/h with light throttle. Around the Marina, JLT or a supermarket run, the CVT keeps things smooth and the engine never feels stressed. Take it onto Sheikh Zayed Road and merge at 120 km/h and you notice the ceiling. It gets there, but a loaded overtake at highway speed wants planning rather than a stab of the accelerator, and a full car of four adults will feel that more than a driver on their own.
Dubai summers push a parked cabin into the high 40s, and every car needs a minute to recover from that. The MG3's small interior works in its favour here, because there is less air for the front vents to pull down. Climb back in after a midday car park and expect the worst of the heat to clear within a few minutes on the move, not the long crawl a bigger cabin needs. It is a basic climate system, not a luxury one, and at this rate that is the trade you would expect. Park in shade or underground where you can, and the first stretch of any drive is the only uncomfortable one.
Rent the MG3 2024 if the budget is what decides the booking and your week is mostly city driving: a solo commuter, a couple keeping costs down, or a light airport run with one bag each. Nothing in the fleet at this rate matches it for running cost, and around town the small engine and tight footprint work for you rather than against you.
Size up in two situations. If you are two couples or a family of four with a week of luggage, the 293-litre boot will not carry it and the back seat will feel small on a longer drive, so an MG5 sedan or a compact SUV earns its higher rate. And if your days involve real Sheikh Zayed Road mileage or a run out to Hatta, the modest power means every overtake takes more room than you would like, so something with a bigger engine suits that trip better.
The terms are straightforward: 250 km included each day, AED 0.5 for every kilometre after that, and you need to be 25 to collect the keys, older than the usual cutoff on cars this size. For a cheap, easy week of Dubai city driving with light luggage, the MG3 does the job for less than almost anything else we rent.
