MG 3 2025 - start from 89 AED / day

You have started a job here, the visa is still processing, and buying your own car is three months away. That gap is what the MG MG3 2025 gets booked for more than anything else, and we hand this one over from age 18, where most desks in Dubai will not give you keys before 21. It is a five seat automatic hatchback that costs very little to keep on the road for a month of commuting and errands. The decision this page is built around is the one you actually face at this price point: MG3, Kia Picanto, Suzuki Swift, or step up to a Nissan Sunny.

Where it lands against a Picanto, a Swift or a Sunny

Those four cars turn up on the same shortlist constantly, and they are not interchangeable. The Picanto is a full size down, which makes it the easiest of the group to wedge into a bad bay and the least pleasant once there are four of you in it. The Swift is the familiar choice and feels lighter on its feet, though the cabin shows its budget more plainly. The Sunny is a sedan, so it brings a proper boot and a back seat an adult can occupy for an hour without resenting you.

The MG3 was built to sit between them. At 4,113 mm long and 1,797 mm wide it has supermini length with something closer to small sedan width, and the width is what you notice from day one. Shoulder room up front beats anything the Picanto can offer, and the dashboard looks a class newer than the money suggests. Mechanically there is no drama, just a 1.5-litre four cylinder making 109 PS through a CVT to the front wheels. For a month of city driving, undramatic is the right answer, and this is the one in the group I would pick without thinking hard about it.

Room for a month of living, not a week of luggage

The boot holds 293 litres with the bench up, and over a month that number gets tested differently than it does on a holiday. You are not moving suitcases daily. You are moving a full supermarket run, a gym bag, a folded stroller, and at some point the furniture trip that every new apartment demands. The weekly shop goes in without any thought at all. The furniture trip needs the rear seats down, and folded flat the space is more useful than the exterior lets on.

Airport duty is where 293 litres starts to argue with you. One large hard case, a cabin bag and a soft holdall is the honest ceiling, and a second large case ends up on the back seat.

Five seats is the official count and four adults is the realistic one, with the pair in the back wanting the front seats nudged forward on anything longer than a cross-town run. Two kids back there instead and the packaging stops being a conversation. Child seats are required for under-fours in the UAE and belts are mandatory in every seat, so build the seat into the booking rather than solving it on the day.

Ramps, speed bumps and the stretch of E11

Parking is the daily win. Under 4.2 metres long, with a turning circle that takes internal-road U-turns in one lock, the MG3 goes into the narrow bays in older towers and mall basements without the door-shuffling a sedan makes you do. That ease compounds over a month of short trips more than any spec on the table does.

Ground clearance is 132 mm, and that is low. Steep basement ramps want a slow, square approach rather than a confident one, and the sharper community speed bumps deserve respect instead of momentum. Front-wheel drive and that clearance also settle the question people ask every winter, so treat soft sand and the rougher approach roads near Hatta as off limits.

On the highway it cruises at 120 without protest. Ask for a fast lane change into a gap that is already closing and you need to commit early, because 109 PS through a CVT gathers speed steadily rather than sharply, and the revs sit high and loud while it does. A daily Abu Dhabi commute in this would get old.

The combined figure is 6.6 L/100 km against a 45-litre tank, so roughly 680 km on paper, and nobody sees that in a Dubai summer. Budget for nearer eight litres per 100 km, which works out to about one fill a week for normal commuting. We include 300 km a day and charge 50 fils a kilometre beyond it, which a city month never troubles. Salik tolls and any RTA fine during the rental come to you, charged per gate, so a route built around the main highway adds up faster than people expect.

Cooling a cabin that has baked since nine in the morning

Small helps here. There is less air in an MG3 than in a sedan, so it pulls the temperature down faster after a day in an uncovered bay. Faster is not fast. Give it two or three minutes with a window cracked and the fan up before the vents blow properly cold, and until then the wheel and the belt buckles are too hot to hold comfortably.

Front vent output is strong once the system catches up. There are no rear vents on this car, so anyone in the back is cooled by whatever makes it past the front seats. Kids on a fifteen minute run will not care. Two adults back there in July will. A cheap windscreen shade does more for your first five minutes than anything else you can buy.

The call

Take the MG3 for that in-between month if you are one or two people living and working inside the city. Commuting, errands, weekend trips across town, the occasional airport run. Nothing in the group does that job better for the money, and the extra width and the newer cabin are what separate it from a Picanto.

Take the Picanto instead only if you are solo and every trip ends in a genuinely tight downtown bay. Take the Sunny if there are four of you with real luggage, or if your commute is highway kilometres rather than city ones, because a bigger boot and a car happier above 100 pay for themselves inside a fortnight. If anything in the month involves leaving tarmac, none of these four is the answer. Book a crossover for that week and come back to the MG3 for the other three.
