Kia Soul 2025 - start from 127 AED / day

Rent the Kia Soul 2025 in Dubai and you get the rare economy car with a character of its own, and we rent it from age 18 when most desks here hold out for 21. The number that frames this whole page is 123 hp from a 1.6-litre petrol: enough for the city, modest on the open road. So our take is straightforward. For a solo resident or a couple who want easy parking, an upright view of the traffic and a cheap week of running, the Soul is one of the smarter small cars we hand over. Load it with four adults and a week of airport cases and it starts to feel its size, and we'll show you exactly where that line sits.

The 1.6 engine and how it drives

The Soul runs a 1.6-litre petrol four making 123 hp through an automatic gearbox, sending drive to the front wheels. It's a relaxed engine rather than a quick one, and that matches how most people use the car. Pulling away at lights, crawling through a mall car park or doing the school run, it's smooth and easy and asks nothing of you.

The character changes once the road opens up. Merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road with a couple of passengers aboard, you'll plan the gap rather than punch into it, because the mid-range is gentle. Cruising at 100 to 120 it settles down and stays calm. If your week is mostly city errands with the odd highway run, the engine is well judged. If you spend hours on the E11 overtaking trucks, you'd want something with more under the right foot.

Parking and the view out

This is where the Soul quietly wins. It's a touch over four metres long, but the tall body, deep glass and high, upright seat make it feel small to place. Marina ramps, tight multi-storey bays and the endless U-turns on Dubai's main roads are all easier when you sit up and can see the corners of the car. After a low, swoopy hatch, the difference is obvious the first time you reverse into a packed mall level.

Ground clearance sits around 160 mm, which is enough to ride over Dubai's speed bumps and the lips on mall entrances without the wince you get in a lowered car. It's front-wheel drive and built for tarmac, so leave Hatta passes and soft sand to a proper 4x4. For everything a normal Dubai week throws at it, the Soul is happy.

Luggage, and where the space runs out

On paper the boot is around 315 litres with the seats up, which sounds ordinary. The box shape makes it more useful than the figure suggests, because you stack bags upward in a tall, square load space rather than cramming them flat. Two people doing a week here fit two medium cases plus the soft bags without folding a thing.

Drop the rear bench and the Soul opens into a genuinely big, flat hold, fine for a furniture run or a fortnight of groceries and a stroller. The honest limit is the back seat with passengers in it. Four adults plus full airport luggage is tight, and at that point a compact sedan or a small crossover does the job better. As a two-up car that occasionally swallows a lot of cargo, though, the Soul punches above its class.

Staying cool through a Dubai summer

The air conditioning matters here more than almost any spec, and the Soul's tall cabin cuts both ways. There's a lot of glass and a lot of air to cool, so on a 45-degree afternoon a car that's baked in a car park takes a couple of minutes to come down. Once it does, the system holds temperature well and the upright dash puts the front vents close to you. There's little to speak of for rear passengers, so on the hottest days the back relies on airflow from the front. Park in shade where you can, set it cold the moment you move off, and for daily city use it copes.

Fuel and the running week

The 1.6 petrol is efficient without being remarkable. In Dubai city traffic, expect real-world use somewhere around 7 to 8 litres per 100 km, less on a steady highway cruise. With a 54-litre tank, a normal week of mixed driving means one fill, maybe two if you commute right across the city every day. Petrol here is cheap, so the Soul stays genuinely inexpensive to run, which is most of the reason to rent one.

Two Dubai admin points worth stating plainly. Salik tolls are charged to you as the renter each time you pass a gate, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours as well. Children under four need a child seat by law, and we can fit one on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Soul 2025 if you're one or two people who want a small, characterful car that parks anywhere, runs cheap and feels nicer inside than the usual economy box. Solo residents, couples and small families doing mall runs and the odd airport pickup with sensible luggage are exactly who it suits, and the rent-from-18 policy opens it to younger drivers most companies turn away.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If you regularly carry four adults with full luggage, the rear space and boot get tight, so size up to a sedan or crossover. And if your week leans on long, fast highway stints or any off-road, the 123 hp Soul isn't built for it. For the city driver who wants character on an economy budget, it's hard to beat.
