The Jeep Grand Cherokee 2023 carries actual off-road hardware under the badge, not the black plastic cladding that passes for ruggedness on most crossovers in this class. Underneath the fifth-generation body sits a genuine 4x4 system with a two-speed transfer case and locking rear differential available on the higher end of the range, the kind of engineering most car-based SUVs on this fleet simply don't have. We deliver it to your hotel, villa or terminal within one to two hours of booking. What this page settles is whether that capability is worth the size and the running cost for your week here, or whether a smaller SUV gets you the same daily job done for less.
Every GCC-spec Grand Cherokee in this generation runs the same 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, making 293 hp and 352 Nm through an 8-speed automatic. It's not a fast car in a straight line, but the power arrives smoothly and the gearbox never hunts for the right ratio on Sheikh Zayed Road, which matters more day to day than a 0-100 number.
The drivetrain is where the Grand Cherokee separates itself from the softer SUVs on the same fleet. Jeep's base 4x4 system runs full-time and shifts torque to the wheel with grip without you doing anything, and cars higher in the range add a low-range transfer case with a locking rear differential, the hardware that actually gets a vehicle out of soft sand rather than just looking like it could. Ground clearance sits at 214mm on the standard suspension, and Grand Cherokees fitted with the optional air suspension can raise that further for off-road driving. Ask the desk which setup your specific car has if a Hatta trip or dune driving is part of the plan, because not every unit on the road carries the top-spec system.

Treat the off-road ability as real but not a stunt car's. This is a mid-size 4x4 built for graded desert tracks, firm beach access and the odd rutted road, not a dedicated dune basher. If dune bashing is the actual goal for your week, a Patrol or a Land Cruiser with proper low range as standard is the better rental. If you want a car that can leave the tarmac occasionally and shrug off a rough Hatta road without drama, this one does that comfortably.
Five seats, two rows, no third row to fold or forget about. This is the standard Grand Cherokee, not the longer Grand Cherokee L, so if your group needs seven seats, look elsewhere on the fleet rather than assuming this one stretches to fit.
For what it is, the cabin works well. Two adults up front and two in the back travel in real comfort, with enough width across the second row that a third passenger for a short mall run isn't a squeeze. The boot holds 1,067 litres behind the rear seats, enough for a proper airport run with a couple of large cases and soft bags, or a full week's grocery shop without anyone folding seats down. Drop the rear seats and it opens to just over 2,000 litres, which covers a big furniture or luggage haul if you need it once during the week.
Fuel is the honest trade-off for the V6 and the size. Jeep's combined figure works out to around 10.5 L/100km, and stop-start city driving with the AC working hard will push that closer to 12 or 13 in practice. The 87-litre tank still gives a decent range between fills, so you're not stopping every other day, just budgeting a bit more than you would for a smaller SUV. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, as they do with every car we hand over.
Heat is the question every renter here asks, and a cabin this size needs a system that can actually keep up. It does. The AC pulls a parked cabin down quickly even after hours in a July car park, and both rows get proper airflow rather than the front seats hogging all the cold air. Parking is where the size becomes a small daily negotiation rather than a real problem. At just under five metres long and close to two metres wide, tight multi-storey bays and Marina ramps ask for the reversing camera and a little patience, but the 214mm of clearance means speed bumps and steep mall ramps don't need to be taken at a crawl.
Rent the Grand Cherokee 2023 if you want genuine 4x4 capability and American road presence in a size that still fits daily Dubai life, without stepping up to a full-size SUV's fuel bill or footprint. It's a strong pick for a couple or a small family who wants the option of a rough road or a beach track without planning their whole week around it.
Look elsewhere if you need three rows or regular eight-seat capacity, since the Grand Cherokee L and the bigger American SUVs on this fleet cover that job and this one doesn't stretch to it. A smaller crossover is also the better call if your week is strictly city errands and school runs, since you'll spend less at the pump for a job that doesn't need low range or a locking diff. A deposit may apply on a car this size, so don't assume the no-deposit option here. The allowance is 250 km a day, with extra kilometres billed at AED 0.5 each, and you'll need to be 25 to take the keys.
