Ford Bronco Sport 2024 - start from 332 AED / day

Most compact SUVs you rent in Dubai are crossovers in hiking boots, road cars dressed up to look rugged. The Ford Bronco Sport 2024 is the rare one that actually backs up the look, and we deliver it to your door across Dubai in one to two hours. This is the Badlands-spec car: a turbocharged 2.0-litre with all-wheel drive, taller ground clearance than the usual economy crossover, and a boxy body built to carry gear rather than just look the part. Our argument is simple. If your Dubai week includes a graded desert track, a wadi drive out past Hatta, or a loaded run to a campsite, this is the compact that earns the rate. For pure city errands it's more car than you need, and we'll say so below.

What the all-wheel drive actually buys you

Start here, because it's the whole point. Most crossovers at this size and price are front-wheel drive, fine on tarmac and helpless the moment a wheel hits soft sand. The Bronco Sport sends power to all four corners, and the Badlands setup is tuned for loose surfaces rather than just wet roundabouts. On a graded track or a hard-packed desert road it stays composed where a front-driver would scrabble and stop. It's still a compact SUV, not a Wrangler rival, so deep soft dune sand is asking too much of it. For the trips most renters actually take, a beach access road, a gravel track to a viewpoint, the run up to Jebel Jais, it has the traction the badge promises.

Clearance, parking and Dubai's speed bumps

The Bronco Sport rides high, around 224 mm of clearance, which is a lot for a car this short. Dubai's harshest speed bumps, the lipped mall entrances, the steep ramps up older Marina towers, none of them make you wince. You drive over what would have a low sedan scraping. The flip side is height. At over 1.8 metres tall it won't slide into the lowest multi-storey bays without a glance at the clearance bar, and the upright shape catches more crosswind on the E11 than a sleek crossover does. It's only 4.39 metres long though, so placing it in a tight bay is easy once you're under the roof. The high seating gives you a commanding view that makes city traffic less of a chore.

Space, gear and the boxy boot

This is where the square body pays off. The boot is tall and flat-floored, the kind that swallows a cooler box, camping kit and a couple of cases without the Tetris a coupe-roofed crossover demands, and folding the rear seats opens up roughly 900 litres of flat load space. For two people heading out with bikes, boards or a weekend of gear, it's genuinely useful room rather than a marketing figure. Five adults fit, the back bench takes three for a real trip rather than just a short hop, and there's proper headroom front and rear because nobody styled the roof away. If your week is moving people and stuff, not just looking the part, the shape does real work.

Fuel, heat and the running costs that fall to you

The turbo 2.0-litre has genuine pull, which makes merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road and overtaking on the E11 easy, but all-wheel drive and a tall body mean you'll pay a little more at the pump than a light front-drive hatch would cost. The roughly 64-litre tank still gives you a solid week of mixed city and highway driving between fills, and a desert day won't leave you hunting for a station if you set off full. On the heat, the big upright cabin takes a touch longer to cool than a small hatch after a day in 45-degree sun, but the climate system pulls it down to comfortable within a few minutes of moving, and rear passengers get their own vents so kids aren't baking on the back bench. A few rules sit with you as the renter: Salik tolls charge to the account as you pass the gantries, RTA fines during the rental pass to you, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Bronco Sport 2024 if your week has a genuine off-tarmac element, a desert track, a wadi run, a campsite, and you want a compact that can actually get there with all-wheel drive and real clearance rather than a crossover that turns back at the first patch of sand. It's also a smart pick if you're hauling bulky gear and want a boxy, useful boot.

Skip it if your driving is pure city, errands, the school run and a couple of airport trips, where a lighter front-drive crossover will be cheaper to fuel and just as capable on tarmac. And if your plan is serious dune bashing rather than graded tracks, this isn't enough car. For the renter who wants real capability in a city-friendly size, though, the Bronco Sport is the honest choice, and few rivals at this rate can follow it off the asphalt.
