Ford Bronco Sport 2021 - start from 919 AED / day

Some 4x4s wear the look without the hardware underneath. The Ford Bronco 2021 is not one of them, and we rent it across Dubai with flexible payment on delivery: cards, cash, or a wallet tap, whatever's easiest when the keys change hands. This is a body-on-frame truck with a real two-speed transfer case and low-range gearing, built for the kind of weekend that ends on a dune face or a rocky Hatta trail rather than a mall ramp. If your plan involves leaving the tarmac, this page is for you. If it doesn't, we'll be honest about that too, because a tall boxy 4x4 asks something of you in city traffic that a softer crossover doesn't.

What the Bronco is actually built for

The argument for renting a Bronco over a comfortable crossover comes down to one thing: it goes where they can't. The 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo four sends 305 horsepower through a proper four-wheel-drive system, and the low range is the part that matters off the blacktop. Drop into low range on a soft dune and the gearing multiplies torque so the truck crawls up sand without you mashing the throttle and digging in. On the rocks past Hatta dam, that same low range lets you pick over ledges at walking pace.

Clearance backs it up. With roughly 8.3 inches under the belly, the Bronco clears ruts, washouts, and the kind of broken track that scrapes a low SUV's bumper off. It'll wade through standing water far deeper than you'd ever risk in a normal rental, which matters more than it sounds after a winter downpour leaves wadis running.

Specs that decide the trip

The table is reference. The judgement is below it.

That 305 horsepower means the Bronco doesn't feel slow on road despite its bulk; 0 to 100 in 6.6 seconds is genuinely quick for a truck this shape. The fuel side is where you pay for the capability. Expect real-world economy in the rough range of 11 to 12 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, and worse when you're working it through sand. With a tank near 79 litres, plan on a fill every 600 km or so on highway and city runs, and budget a top-up before and after any serious desert day. There's no getting around it: a boxy body-on-frame 4x4 drinks more than a sedan.

On the road and at the airport run

Out on Sheikh Zayed Road the Bronco cruises fine and has more than enough power to merge and overtake at E11 speeds. What you'll notice is the tall, upright body. There's wind noise, some lean if you throw it into a bend, and a ride that's firmer and busier than a road-biased SUV because the suspension is tuned to take a beating off-road. None of that is a fault. It's the trade you accept for the dune ability.

The 305 horsepower handles a fully loaded DXB or DWC run without complaint. Five adults fit, though the back seat is more upright than a family crossover's, and the cargo space behind the rear seats takes a couple of large cases plus soft bags. Fold the rear bench and it swallows camping kit, a cooler, and recovery boards for a desert weekend with room to spare.

Living with a tall boxy 4x4 in the city

Parking is the honest catch. At just over two metres wide and nearly 4.8 metres long, the Bronco fills a standard mall bay and asks for care in Marina's tight multi-storey ramps. The upright pillars and big mirrors help visibility, and the high seating position lets you see over traffic, but you'll want the reversing camera in narrow bays. U-turns need a moment more room than you're used to.

Heat is the other reality. After a few hours parked in a summer car park with the cabin past 45 degrees, the Bronco's AC pulls the front down to comfortable in a few minutes, helped by strong front vents. The cabin is large and airy, so the first minute or two feels slow before it catches up. Park in shade when you can and it's a non-issue.

A few Dubai rules carry to whoever's driving. Salik tolls are billed to the renter, and any RTA fines pass through to you, so keep to posted limits, easy to do in a truck this planted. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Bronco if the desert is the point. For dune runs, Hatta trails, beach camping, or any weekend where the road ends and the sand begins, few rentals in this class give you genuine low-range crawling and the clearance to use it. It's the rental I'd hand someone who actually plans to go off-road, not just look like they might.

Skip it if you never leave the tarmac. If your week is school runs, office commutes, and the odd airport trip, a road-biased crossover will park easier, sip less fuel, and ride smoother for less effort. The Bronco's strengths are wasted on smooth roads, and its compromises, the firm ride, the width, the thirst, are felt every day. Pick it for what it does best, and it's hard to beat.
