Most three-row SUVs are appliances. The Dodge Durango 2025 is the one that still drives like it wants to, and that's the reason to rent it. We hand it over across Dubai with doorstep delivery in one to two hours, and the thing that sets it apart sits in the layout: a 3.6-litre V6 sending its power to the rear wheels, in a class where almost everything else pulls from the front. That gives the Durango a planted, muscular feel on the open road that no front-drive family hauler quite matches. So this page is for the renter who wants seven seats but refuses to drive something dull. If that's not you, there are cheaper, thriftier ways to carry a crowd, and we'll say so.
The Durango runs a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 making 293 hp through an automatic, and the rear-drive layout is the headline. Where a front-drive seven-seater feels nose-led and a bit inert, this one settles its weight back and feels balanced and confident, especially through a fast sweep on Sheikh Zayed Road or a long interchange. It cruises with a deep, easy reserve, overtakes without drama, and carries its size like a car that enjoys the work. For a driver who finds most family SUVs numb, that character is the whole point. The cost is fuel, which we'll come to, and a slightly different mindset in the rain, where rear drive asks for a smoother right foot.

This is a big, properly sized SUV, so the space is real rather than token. The first two rows are roomy enough for adults on a long run, and the third row handles kids easily or grown-ups for shorter hops. Behind that back row there's around 487 litres, enough for a decent airport collection where you've got a full cabin of people and their bags at once. Fold the third row for a family of five and the load bay opens right up to roughly 2410 litres at maximum, swallowing a week's luggage, a stroller and the weekend shop without a fight. If your trip means a crowd and their gear together, the Durango carries both without the squeeze you get from compact seven-seaters.
A big naturally aspirated V6 isn't built for economy, so be clear-eyed about it. A week of heavy highway driving will show at the pump, landing somewhere in the low teens per 100 km in real use. The roughly 93-litre tank means you won't be filling constantly, and Dubai petrol is cheap by global standards, so the running cost stings far less here than it would in most places. Even so, if your week is short city errands with one or two people, you're feeding an engine you're never really using. The Durango makes sense when the power and the seats both get used. The extra-kilometre charge on this car is 2 AED beyond the 250 km a day included, so plan longer trips with that in mind, and remember Salik tolls and RTA fines pass to you.
A three-row cabin is a lot of air to chill, and Dubai summers sit in the mid-40s, so AC reach matters for a full car. The Durango has the vents to suit its size, with strong front outlets and air that carries back so the middle and third rows aren't left baking. Park in shade where you can, give it a few minutes with the doors shut, and it comes down to comfortable through the whole cabin rather than just up front. With kids in the back two rows, that reach is worth more than any badge or trim line.
There's no hiding the size. At over five metres long and nearly two wide, the Durango wants thought in tight multi-storey bays and on the steeper Marina ramps, and U-turns take a wider arc than a crossover. The high seating and big glass help, and once you're used to the length it's easy enough to place. The clearance handles speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping. It's a road and highway machine rather than a dune car, so for desert tracks you'd want a dedicated 4x4, but for motorway miles, airport runs and moving a group around town with a bit of attitude, it's well in its element.
Rent the Dodge Durango 2025 if you want seven seats but won't settle for a dull drive. The rear-drive V6 character, the real adult space and the big boot are what you're paying for, and used that way it's a genuinely satisfying family SUV with doorstep delivery to match. Skip it if your priority is the lowest possible running cost, or if you mostly drive solo around the city, because then you're feeding a thirsty engine for nothing and a Captiva or a smaller crossover will cost far less. And if you never use the third row, a five-seat SUV gives you the comfort without the length. Match the Durango to a full house, long miles and a driver who actually cares how it feels, and it's hard to beat in this class.
