Need to move a big group and a mountain of luggage without stacking everyone into two cars? We rent the Chevrolet Tahoe 2021 across Dubai, and you settle however suits you on delivery: card, cash, bank transfer, or a wallet like Apple Pay or Google Pay. This is the full-size, three-row, body-on-frame SUV at an older-year rate, which makes it the cheap way to carry seven people and a week of bags in one vehicle. That trade is the whole reason to pick it. You accept a thirsty V8 and a large footprint in exchange for genuine space, and below I'll tell you when that maths works and when a smaller SUV is the smarter book.
Seven seats here are real seats, not a token third row you fold up to apologise for. Two adults sit in the back row without their knees in their chins, which matters once the trip runs past a quick hop. Behind that third row you still get a usable boot, and drop the rearmost seats and the load floor turns cavernous.
For an airport run this is the rare SUV that handles a full group and their cases at once. Think four to five people with large suitcases, or seven people travelling light with carry-ons and a couple of checked bags up front. Push past that, seven adults each with a big case plus airport trolleys, and even the Tahoe fills up. Fold one section of the third row and you free a deep well for the overflow.

No way around it: the 5.3 V8 drinks. Plan on roughly 7 to 8 kilometres per litre once you mix mall car parks, Salik corridors, and the odd highway stretch, and worse if you sit in summer traffic with the AC working hard. The flip side is the tank holds around 91 litres, so range between fills is long even with the heavy fuel use. On a typical week of city errands and a couple of longer runs you're looking at a fill every few days rather than every other morning. Fuel here is cheap by global standards, which softens the blow, but if your week is mostly short solo trips, you're paying to haul empty seats. That's the honest case for sizing down.
A big cabin takes longer to cool than a small one, and in a Dubai July a Tahoe left in the sun comes back genuinely hot. The upside is the three rows each get their own vents, so once the system catches up everyone is covered, not just the front two. Give it a few minutes after you climb in. Start the engine, set the fans high, and let it pull the heat out before you load kids into the back. Park in shade or a basement when you can, because a 5300 mm car bakes a lot of glass.
This is where you have to be clear-eyed. The Tahoe is over five metres long and wide with it, so tight multi-storey bays and the spiral ramps at Marina towers are a real chore. You'll hunt for end bays and the wider spaces near lift cores, and reversing into a standard slot takes patience and the cameras. Speed bumps and mall ramps aren't a problem given the clearance, but U-turns and narrow older streets ask for room this car doesn't shrink to give.
On the open road it comes into its own. Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 are exactly its habitat, where the V8 cruises at speed with the family settled and overtaking never feels like a project. Long airport transfers to DXB or out to DWC are easy and quiet. As the renter you cover Salik tolls and any RTA fines, seatbelts are required in every row, and an under-four needs a proper child seat, which the back rows have plenty of room to fit.
The all-wheel-drive badge tempts people toward the desert. Don't. This is a comfort-biased family hauler with road-set suspension, not a low-range off-roader, and soft sand will catch it out fast. For a graded track to a campsite or a beach approach it's fine. For real dune driving you want a proper 4x4 with low range and the right tyres, deflated, with recovery kit and a second vehicle. Treat the Tahoe as a highway and city machine that shrugs off speed bumps, and it'll never let you down.
Rent the Tahoe 2021 if you're moving a real group: a large family, a set of friends sharing one vehicle, or anyone running an airport shuttle for several people with luggage. At an older-year rate it's the cheapest way to do all of that in a single car, and the space and highway calm are worth the fuel.
Skip it if you're two or three people doing mostly city driving. You'll fight the size in every car park and pay a V8's fuel bill to carry air. A mid-size SUV, or a sedan if luggage is light, will be cheaper to run and far easier to park. The Tahoe earns its keep when the seats and the boot are full, and not much before that.
