Sharp-looking and quick on its feet, the BMW X2 2023 is the small premium crossover for people who think most compact SUVs look the same. We deliver it to your door across Dubai in one to two hours, so you can have a 192hp coupe-crossover on your driveway the same afternoon you book. This is a car bought with the eyes as much as the head: the chopped, sloping roofline gives it a low, athletic stance that an X1 or a mainstream crossover just doesn't have. That style costs a little rear headroom and boot space, and the rest of this page is about whether that trade works for your week here.
Think singles and couples first. The X2 is at its best with two up front and a desire to enjoy the drive rather than just get there. The xDrive all-wheel-drive setup and a 2.0-litre turbo make it genuinely brisk, with 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, and on Sheikh Zayed Road it has the muscle to pull out, settle into a fast lane and stay composed at 120. It corners flatter than its ride height suggests, so the curving interchange ramps that make taller SUVs lean feel planted in this one.
Where it gets tight is the back. That dropping roofline eats headroom, so an adult over about six feet sitting behind a tall driver will brush the lining. Two kids or two average-height adults are fine for city hops. Four adults on a regular basis is where I'd point you at the X1 instead. Same BMW feel, more upright roof, more room.

470 litres sounds healthy, and for the airport run it mostly is. Two large hard cases plus a couple of soft bags will go in for a DXB or DWC pickup with two people travelling. Add a third passenger's luggage and you'll be folding part of the rear bench, which costs you a seat. The sloped tailgate also narrows the opening near the top, so very tall boxes are awkward in a way they wouldn't be in a boxier crossover. For a couple's week of mall trips and a big grocery run, the space is fine. For a family of four plus a week of cases, it's the X2's weakest point, and worth knowing before you book.
Dubai summer is the real test of any car, and the X2 handles it well. The cabin is compact, which works in your favour after the car has been baking in a mall lot at 45 degrees: there's less air to chill, so the AC pulls the temperature down quickly once you're moving with the fans up. Front cooling is strong, and rear passengers get vents too. Park in shade where you can and the climate system keeps up without drama through July and August.
At 4,360 mm long the X2 is properly compact, shorter than a 3 Series, so Marina multi-storey bays and tight mall parking aren't a fight. The 182 mm ground clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and most mall and basement ramps without you wincing, which can't be said for the lower BMW saloons. Visibility out the back is the catch: that stylish rear glass is shallow, so the reversing camera earns its keep in a packed car park. U-turns and lane changes are easy given the small footprint and quick steering.
With a 61-litre tank and official combined economy near 6.6 l/100km, the X2 looks frugal on paper. Real Dubai driving, with the AC running flat out and stop-start traffic on the commute, lands higher, more like 8 to 9 l/100km in mixed use. Even so, the tank is generous. A typical week of city errands and a couple of longer airport runs means one fill, maybe two if you're covering serious distance. Petrol here is cheap, so this is never the car that empties your wallet at the pump.
You can rent the X2 from age 18 with us, where much of the market still asks for 21. Salik tolls run on your account during the rental, and any RTA fines from speed or parking cameras pass to you, so keep an eye on the 120 limits the X2 makes easy to exceed. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat and a child seat is required for under-fours, which we can add before delivery. Payment is flexible: card, debit, cash on delivery, bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay or crypto.
Rent the BMW X2 if you're one or two people who want a premium small SUV with real pace and a look that stands apart, and you can live with a snug rear. It rewards the drive on the highway and shrugs off Dubai parking. If you regularly carry four adults or need the full boot, take the X1 for the practicality or a mainstream crossover to save. For a stylish week with the right two people in it, the X2 is the one I'd hand you the keys to.
