If you want a quiet, spacious electric SUV for a week of Dubai city driving without the fuel stops, the Volkswagen ID.6 2021 is worth a look, and we deliver it to your door in one to two hours. It's a large three-row EV, rear-wheel drive, and the appeal is the calm: no engine noise, strong low-speed pull, and a cabin that stays serene in traffic. The honest framing is this. The ID.6 suits the renter who'll mostly drive in and around the city and can charge without stress. If your week is back-to-back long highway runs to Abu Dhabi, an EV asks more planning than a petrol car, and we'll be straight about that below.
The ID.6 here runs a 58 kWh battery, rated at up to 436 km on China's lenient test cycle. Treat that as a ceiling, not a promise. In real Dubai use, with the AC working hard against 45-degree heat and some highway speed, plan around a usefully lower figure. For a typical week of city errands, the school run and a couple of mall trips, that's comfortably enough between charges.
Charging is the part to sort before you commit. The ID.6 takes both slower AC charging, ideal for an overnight top-up where you're staying, and faster DC charging at public stations for a quicker mid-day boost. If your building or hotel has a charger, or there's a reliable public point near you, the car fits easily into a week. If charging access is awkward where you're based, a petrol SUV will be less hassle. Match the car to your charging, not the other way round.

At nearly 4.9 metres long the ID.6 is a genuinely big SUV, and the flat EV floor frees up cabin room you don't get in a petrol equivalent of the same footprint. The first two rows are roomy, and the third row exists for kids or short adult trips rather than long-haul comfort, much like other large seven-seaters. For a family of four or five it's spacious; for seven adults on a long run, the back row is occasional seating.
Luggage works on the same logic as any three-row SUV. With all rows up the boot is tight, enough for soft bags and the day's shopping. Fold the third row and you get a proper load space for a week of cases or a big mall haul. Seven people plus full airport luggage at once is the squeeze, so plan the DXB or DWC run around either the seats or the bags.
The motor makes 180 hp to the rear wheels, and the way it delivers power is the nicest thing about the car in town. Pull away from a light and the response is instant and smooth, with none of the hesitation a torque-converter SUV can show. It reaches 100 km/h in about 9.3 seconds, which is unhurried on paper but feels brisker in the city because the power arrives the moment you ask. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises quietly and settles well, though, like most family EVs, sustained high-speed running eats into range faster than gentle city use. It's a road car, not an off-roader, so keep it on the tarmac.
A large three-row cabin holds a lot of air, and Dubai summers run into the mid-40s, so the AC has real work to do. The ID.6's climate system is built for the volume, and there's a useful EV trick here: you can often pre-cool the cabin before you get in, drawing from the battery rather than warming up an engine. The front output is strong and rear vents carry cold air back into the cabin for passengers behind you. Just remember that heavy AC use in summer pulls on the same battery as your range, so it's another reason to keep charging easy.
Salik tolls run on your account while the car is with you, and any RTA fines from the drive pass to you as the renter. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request. Nothing unusual, just worth knowing before you set off.
Rent the ID.6 2021 if you want a quiet, roomy electric SUV for city and suburban Dubai driving, you like the idea of skipping the petrol station, and you have a sensible way to charge. For a family that mostly drives locally, it's a calm, spacious and genuinely pleasant car to live with for a week.
Think twice if your week is dominated by long, fast intercity runs, or if charging is going to be a daily puzzle where you're staying. In those cases a petrol seven-seater removes the planning. And if you never need three rows, a smaller EV or SUV will cost less and park more easily. The ID.6 rewards the renter whose week fits how an electric car likes to be driven.
