On a home or public AC wall box the car takes up to 7 kW, so an overnight plug-in fills it comfortably while you sleep. On a DC fast charger it pulls up to 88 kW, which gets you from low to most of the way back in well under an hour, long enough for a coffee and a few emails. Dubai's public charging network is dense across the main communities and along Sheikh Zayed Road, so finding a charger isn't the worry it once was. Slotting into Sheikh Zayed Road traffic or clearing a junction is effortless, and the cabin stays calm and silent at 120 on the E11.

It's front-wheel drive and tuned for comfort, not corners, so it leans a little when pushed hard. Most renters never will. For city errands, airport runs and relaxed highway cruising it feels a class above its rental rate, and the silence makes a Dubai commute noticeably less tiring.

Luggage, space and parking

Five seats, with proper room for two adults up front and a back bench that takes two adults or three kids without complaint. The boot holds 440 litres, enough for two large cases and a few soft bags, and folding the rear seats opens up 1338 litres for a bigger load or a flat space for a stroller and the weekly shop. For a couple or a small family on a week's trip, that's plenty.

At 4.45 metres long it's an easy car to place. Marina tower bays, mall multi-storey ramps and tight U-turns are all straightforward, and the raised seating gives you a clear view in heavy traffic.

Staying cool, and the Dubai rules

EVs have one summer trick worth knowing: you can pre-cool the cabin from the app while it's still plugged in, so you step into a cold car instead of a furnace. Once moving, the AC pulls a parked cabin down quickly, the front vents are strong, and there are rear outlets so back-seat passengers aren't left baking on a longer drive. Running the AC hard does trim range, which is normal for any EV in 45-degree heat, so leave a little buffer on a long day.

Salik tolls are charged to you as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fines during the rental come to you, so watch the speed cameras. Seat belts are required in every seat and a child seat is the law for under-fours, which we can fit on request.
