The Toyota Yaris 2024 is the cheapest sensible automatic in our fleet, and we bring it to you anywhere in Dubai, debit cards and pay-on-delivery accepted so a budget car doesn't mean handing over a card for a hold. It's a small 1.5-litre auto sedan with five seats, and the honest argument here is that it's a city specialist. For a solo driver or a couple doing commuting, errands, the school run and the odd airport hop, it's close to ideal and it's hard to beat on cost. For four adults with a week of luggage or a life spent on the highway, it's the wrong pick, and we'll point you up a class. Know which week is yours before you book.
This is the first reason the Yaris books out. The 1.5-litre engine is light on fuel, and a normal week of Dubai city driving lands you around 6.5 to 7 litres per 100 km once the heat and stop-start traffic are in the mix. The 42-litre tank then carries you most of a week of errands and commuting before the light comes on, often past 550 km. For a solo driver doing a daily cross-city run, that's roughly one cheap fuel stop a week, and the 250 km a day included in your rate covers that pattern without you thinking about it. If the whole reason you're renting is to keep the week cheap, the Yaris makes that easy.

The Yaris is exactly right in the city: light steering, a smooth automatic, easy to place, and the 106 hp keeps up with everything below 100. The honesty comes at speed. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises happily at the limit, but ask it to overtake briskly or push past 120 fully loaded, and the small engine has to work. The pace above 100 is adequate, not eager. For a short blast to the airport or an occasional intercity trip it's fine. If you live on the E11 and overtake constantly, or you're often four-up on the highway, this is the point where I'd size you up to a Corolla rather than let the little engine strain all week.
The boot is genuinely good for the class at 476 litres, more than most hatchbacks this size give you. Two large cases plus a couple of soft bags load without a fight, so a DXB or DWC run for a couple is comfortable. Up front the seats are roomy, and the back is fine for two adults on shorter trips or kids on the school run. Where it tightens is predictable: three adults across the rear for a long drive, or four adults with a full set of suitcases, and someone in the back stops enjoying themselves. The Yaris will carry it, but a couple plus luggage is the sweet spot, and a family of four around town works well.
At 4425 mm this is a properly compact sedan, and you feel the benefit everywhere parking gets awkward. The spiral ramps under the towers, the narrow multi-storey bays, a mall lot on a Friday evening: the Yaris drops into all of them without the careful shuffling a bigger car needs. The turning circle is tight, U-turns are quick, and reversing into a gap a larger sedan would pass is a non-event. Ground clearance sits around 175 mm, generous for a small sedan, so Dubai's speed bumps and standard mall ramps aren't something you brace for and you can take the daily humps at a normal pace.
The cabin is small, and in a Dubai summer that works for you. There's less air to cool, so parked in the sun at 45 degrees the front vents pull the car back to comfortable faster than a big SUV manages. A couple of minutes with the fan up and it's livable, a few more and it's properly cold up front. Rear passengers draw airflow from the front rather than their own vents, so a full back seat in peak July takes a little longer to settle. For one or two people, the AC is never the thing you worry about. A couple of Dubai basics before you collect the keys: Salik tolls are billed to you as the renter, RTA fines during the rental are yours, and seat belts are required in every seat.
Rent the Yaris 2024 if you're driving solo or as a pair, doing city commuting, errands and the odd airport trip, and you want the cheapest sensible automatic with Toyota dependability behind it. For that person it's hard to beat, and the fuel bill and the parking are the whole point.
Size up if you regularly carry four adults, haul a lot of luggage, or spend most of your driving overtaking at speed. The Corolla is the move there: same reliability, more room, and an engine that doesn't strain when you ask it to go. Match the car to the week and the Yaris is an easy yes.
