Tesla Model S 2023 - start from 799 AED / day

The only hard question with the Tesla Model S 2023 in Dubai is where you plan to plug it in. Everything else about this car answers itself in the first ten minutes behind the wheel. We deliver it to your door charged, usually within one to two hours, and the rental runs on 300 km a day with extra kilometres at AED 0.5. A 100 kWh battery is genuinely relaxing when you have a socket at the villa, a charger in the hotel car park, or a mall you were driving to anyway. Sort that out first. The rest of this page is about a very good car.

Five metres of sedan in a Dubai car park

At 5021 mm long and 1963 mm wide, the Model S takes up the whole bay and then some. Older multi-storey car parks have bays drawn for smaller cars, and you will find yourself reversing in on the cameras more often than you would in a mid-size sedan. U-turns are fine for the length, but tight manoeuvres in a full mall car park take patience.

Ride height helps more than the numbers suggest. The air suspension moves between roughly 117 mm and 158 mm and lifts the nose at low speed. You can save a raise setting at a specific ramp, so the car remembers to lift itself next time you arrive. Aggressive speed humps still want a slow approach, and this is not a car for kerbs or unpaved surfaces.

Luggage is the pleasant surprise. The rear compartment swallows 709 litres under a hatchback tailgate rather than a narrow boot lid, so two large cases and a stack of soft bags for a DXB or DWC run go in without a Tetris session. A separate compartment under the bonnet holds the charging cable.

How it drives on Sheikh Zayed Road

This is where the Model S makes its case. Power starts at around 670 hp and goes considerably higher on the faster versions, and it arrives with no gearchange and no engine noise. Merging into fast traffic on the E11 stops being a calculation. You look, you go, and the gap closes.

At a steady 120 km/h the cabin is quieter than almost anything else at this money, helped by a drag figure of 0.208 that is about as slippery as production cars get. The 2089 kg kerb weight reads as stability rather than bulk. It sits flat and tracks straight in crosswind on the run out to Abu Dhabi.

Regenerative braking is the other thing you notice. Lift off the accelerator and the car slows itself, so most of Dubai's stop-and-go traffic can be driven on one pedal. Two days in and you will barely touch the brake, which takes a lot of tedium out of a Business Bay commute.

Salik tolls run on your rental account and any RTA fines pass to you. The car makes 140 km/h feel like 90, and that is exactly how speeding tickets happen here.

Charging without rearranging your week

A 100 kWh battery does not run out on you in Dubai unless you plan badly. Everyday driving here, a few Marina to Downtown runs, a couple of airport trips, school and mall errands, rarely clears 100 km in a day. You could go four or five days between charges.

Summer changes the maths. With the AC fighting a 45-degree afternoon and the battery cooling itself in the background, expect somewhere around 400 to 500 km from a full charge rather than the headline figure. That is still a lot of Dubai.

For topping up, DEWA's EV Green Charger points sit at malls, hotels and main roads, and Tesla's own Supercharger sites in the UAE will take the car from low to most of the way full in the time it takes to have lunch. Overnight AC charging at a villa or hotel is the easy path if you have it.

An EV rental does become a nuisance in one specific situation. If you are in an older building with no charger, parking on the street, and driving to Abu Dhabi and back twice in the week, you will spend real time sitting at chargers. Rent a petrol sedan instead and skip the subject entirely.

Heat and the cabin

Dubai summers punish parked cars, and this is one area where the Model S is straightforwardly better than a petrol rival. You can start the climate from your phone while walking out of the office, so you get into a cold car instead of waiting three minutes for the vents to catch up. The glass roof is coated against infrared and UV and it does work, though a car left in direct sun at 2 pm is still hot when you open the door. Nothing changes that.

Once running, the cooling is strong front and back, with rear vents that move real air. Five adults fit properly, and the rear seat is generous for the class, though the tapering roofline puts a passenger over about 190 cm close to the glass.

Who should rent it, and who should not

Rent the Model S if you want the calmest fast car in Dubai and you know where you are charging it. For a resident with a villa socket, or a visitor in a hotel with chargers in the basement, it is close to ideal: silent, quick, cheap to run, and comfortable enough that a two-hour drive feels like twenty minutes. It also works well as an airport car, because the boot is genuinely large.

Skip it if charging is going to be a hunt, if your week involves desert tracks or soft sand, or if you want something small and easy to thread into a tight car park. A petrol sedan is less trouble in the first case, and an SUV is the right tool in the second. For everyone else, this is one of the most relaxing cars we deliver, and the fact that you can rent it from 18 puts it in reach of drivers most Dubai desks turn away.
