Hiphi Z 2023 - start from 800 AED / day

Most people who rent the HiPhi Z 2023 in Dubai aren't renting transport. They're renting the moment it pulls up, the rear doors swinging open on their own, and the small silence that follows in a valet queue. We deliver it to a hotel or villa door in 1 to 2 hours, with 300 km a day included, and you can book it from 18. It's a four-seat electric saloon, just over five metres long and two metres wide, with 672 hp under it. That mix is superb in some parts of this city and genuinely awkward in others. This page sorts out which is which.

Size, the doors, and where it will actually park

The Z measures 5,036 mm long by 2,018 mm wide and weighs a little over 2.5 tonnes. Width is what you notice, not length. Rear-wheel steering turns the back wheels by up to 13.2 degrees, which tightens the turning circle enough that U-turns and three-point manoeuvres feel like a smaller car than the tape measure says. Nothing shrinks the body itself, though. In an older multi-storey with narrow bays you'll be squeezing, and in a busy valet lane you're better off handing the keys over than threading it yourself.

Then the doors, which is the part nobody mentions until delivery day. The fronts are conventional, the rear pair are rear-hinged, and all four are frameless and powered with obstacle detection. On an open forecourt they're the whole show. Wedged between two SUVs in a mall bay, those rear doors need real clearance to swing, and a back-seat passenger can end up climbing out sideways or waiting while you reverse. Park in an end bay or a wide one when there's a choice. It's a thirty-second habit that removes the only irritating thing about living with the car.

Ground clearance is adjustable on the air suspension, 150 mm at its lowest and 200 mm raised, and you should use that. On the low setting the nose sits close enough to the tarmac that a steep villa driveway or one of the sharper speed bumps deserves the taller setting and a slow, angled approach.

Highway manners, and how far a charge really goes

This is where the Z stops asking anything of you and simply delivers. Two and a half tonnes on air springs settles at 120 km/h in a way lighter cars can't imitate, and the cabin is quiet to the point of feeling sealed. There's no engine noise to mask, so what you hear is tyre roar and a bit of wind, and there isn't much of either. Overtaking on the E11 takes a thought rather than a plan. The 3.8 second sprint to 100 is real, but you'll use maybe a fifth of it, and Dubai's speed cameras make the 200 km/h top speed a spec-sheet line and nothing more. Salik charges and any RTA fine during your booking come back to you, which is worth remembering in a car this quick and this visible.

Range is the honest caveat. The 120 kWh battery is rated at 555 km on the WLTP cycle, and that number assumes mild weather and gentle driving. In July, with the AC pulling hard and the car being driven the way people drive a 672 hp saloon, plan on something closer to 380 to 420 km. For a week of dinners, airport runs and a stretch out toward Abu Dhabi, that's two charges. DEWA's EV Green Charger points and the chargers at newer malls and hotels cover the city well enough, and a 150 kW DC unit refills the bulk of the pack in the time it takes to eat. One practical note: this is a low-volume import, not a car with a charging network built around it, so confirm the connector type and the nearest working fast charger with us when you book rather than working it out at 11pm.

Heat, the cabin, and the four-seat limit

Four seats means four, and they're individual chairs rather than a bench with a badge. Two couples travel in real comfort here. Five people do not travel at all, and that's the first thing to check before you book.

The boot is the second. At 316 litres it's smaller than a supermini's, which is an odd thing to write about a five-metre car, and folding the rear seats to reach 654 litres defeats the point of renting a four-seater. Two cabin cases and a couple of soft bags is a realistic load. A DXB pickup with four adults and four large suitcases will not work, and you should plan a second car or a smaller group instead of finding out at arrivals.

On the heat, the Z has the usual electric advantage. There's no engine warming the bay, so the climate system pulls a baking cabin down without competing with anything, and it does it fast. The counterweight is that a big, glassy cabin in direct sun at 45 degrees soaks up a lot of heat before you get in, and running the AC hard is exactly why the summer range figure sits well under the brochure. Ask us to deliver it pre-cooled in the hot months. With only four bodies in a cabin this size, once it's down it stays comfortable.

The bit about the brand you should know

HiPhi's parent company, Human Horizons, suspended manufacturing in February 2024 and later entered court-supervised restructuring in China. For someone buying one, that raises fair questions about parts, servicing and resale. For a renter it's a different picture, because the car, the insurance and the roadside cover are ours, and if anything goes wrong during your booking we swap it. What it does mean is that this isn't a mainstream car with a service centre on every road, and we'd rather you heard that from us. Book it for the days it earns its keep, not as a month-long workhorse.

Who should rent it

Rent the HiPhi Z 2023 if arriving is part of the job. A shoot, a wedding entrance, an event, a few days where you want the car to do some of the talking, or two couples doing dinners and long highway runs with light luggage. On those days almost nothing at the price lands the same way, and it's genuinely comfortable rather than merely dramatic.

Skip it if you're moving four adults and their airport cases, if your parking is a tight residential stack, or if you'd rather not think about charging at all. A large electric SUV gives you the space and the same silence, and a German saloon gives you the easy familiarity. The Z is for the renter who wants the reaction and is willing to plan around the doors, the boot and the plug to get it.
