There is one question worth settling before you book this car: do you want the pace enough to accept a firmer ride and around a hundred kilometres less range than the standard car? That is the whole trade with the Tesla Model 3 Performance 2024, and we rent it in Dubai with doorstep delivery to your address in one to two hours. Everything else about it is the same Highland sedan. What changes is that it reaches 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, rides on 20-inch wheels, and asks you to plug in a little more often. Answer that one question honestly and the rest of the booking sorts itself out.
Dual motors, 460 hp and 3.1 seconds to 100 km/h make this one of the quickest cars we hand over, and the way it delivers that is what catches people out on the first drive. There is no gearbox waking up, no build of revs, no noise to warn you. You decide to accelerate and the car has already done it. On a slip road onto Sheikh Zayed Road that means you take a gap most drivers would leave alone.
The honest part is how little of that you can use. Top speed is 262 km/h, the limit on the best stretches here is 140, so the performance lives in the first two seconds of any move and then goes quiet. What you keep for the whole week is the response rather than the numbers, and it makes heavy traffic less tiring than it is in most fast cars. The adaptive dampers the standard car does without are worth leaving in the softer setting. The sharp mode is properly stiff and there is nowhere in this city where it improves your day.

Thin sidewalls on 20-inch wheels look right on this car and cost you comfort. Dubai flyovers and the older interchanges have regular expansion joints, and the Performance finds every one of them with a thump the standard Highland rounds off. Adaptive damping keeps it the right side of harsh, and the acoustic glass this generation added keeps road noise where it belongs, but you feel the surface in a way the ordinary car spares you. Across a week of commuting that is a genuine difference, not a detail for enthusiasts to argue about.
Ground clearance is 138 mm, which is low. Take the steeper mall ramps and the sharper speed bumps around residential compounds slowly and at a slight angle. Nothing scrapes if you are paying attention, though the nose sits closer to the ground than most sedans. Parking is otherwise easy: at 4.72 metres with light steering and clear cameras, tight multi-storey bays and U-turns are not something you will think about.
Range is the other bill you pay. The claimed WLTP figure is 528 km against 629 km for the standard all-wheel-drive car. In a Dubai summer, with the AC working hard and some highway speed in the mix, plan for roughly 370 to 400 km of real driving. That is still three or four days of normal city use between charges, and the battery takes up to 250 kW on a fast charger, so a serious top-up is a coffee stop rather than an afternoon. DEWA chargers cover plenty of malls, hotels and residential basements for slower fills. Plug in overnight where you are staying and the question mostly disappears. The 300 km a day included in your rental fits inside a single charge with room to spare, and anything beyond that is AED 0.5 per kilometre.
Luggage escapes all of this. The rear boot takes 594 litres with a deep underfloor well, and another 88 litres sits under the bonnet for cables and a soft bag.
Leave any car in the sun here between June and September and the inside becomes genuinely unpleasant to sit in. Pre-cooling from the phone is the feature you will lean on most. Start it a few minutes before you walk out and you open the door to a cabin that is already cold, which no petrol rental manages without leaving the engine idling.
The glass roof is the caveat. It absorbs heat while the car sits, so recovery from a full afternoon in an open car park takes longer than that habit might suggest. On the worst days, start it earlier. Once you are moving the climate system is strong front and rear, and the 8-inch screen in the back lets rear passengers set their own temperature. The Performance adds ventilated front seats and sport seats with more side support. In July you will care far more about the ventilation than the bolstering.
Two minutes of setup before you pull into traffic will save you some irritation. There is no indicator stalk on this generation. Indicators are buttons on the steering wheel spokes, gear selection is on the touchscreen with a physical backup above the mirror, and the wipers moved as well. Most people have it worked out inside a day. A few never warm to it.
Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental are billed to you. With this much instant torque and almost no engine noise, the speed climbs without anything telling you, so keep half an eye on the display. You can book from 18 here, rather than the 21 most desks insist on.
Rent the Tesla Model 3 Performance 2024 if the driving is part of why you booked a car at all. Anyone who enjoys a car that answers instantly, or who has an early run out along the coast in mind, will get their money's worth. The all-wheel drive and the low battery keep it planted at speed, and it stays quiet and civilised when you are not asking anything of it.
Take the standard 2024 car instead if your week is school runs, mall car parks and airport pickups. You get a softer ride on smaller wheels, an extra hundred kilometres of claimed range, and the same cabin, screen, boot and pre-cooling. Nothing about that week is improved by 3.1 seconds. And if you would rather not plug in at all, or a screen-only dashboard with no indicator stalk sounds like a week of small annoyances, a petrol sedan will suit you better. This car is right for a narrow reason, and it is worth being clear with yourself about whether that reason is yours.
