Tesla Model 3 2021 - start from 279 AED / day

The decision on a Tesla Model 3 2021 is not really about whether you want an electric car. It is about whether a five-year-old EV still stacks up, and the honest answer is that this one mostly does. We deliver it across Dubai within one to two hours, with 300 km a day included, which covers a normal week without anyone watching the odometer. Two things deserve a straight answer before you book. The battery has lost some of its original capacity, and this is the pre-facelift car, so it is noisier and firmer than the Model 3 you may have sat in recently. The drivetrain is still excellent.

What you're actually getting for 2021

This car kept the original column stalks for the indicators and the gear selector, which the later Model 3 dropped in favour of touch controls, and plenty of drivers prefer it this way. Almost everything else lives on the 15-inch centre screen: climate, mirrors, wipers, the lot. There is no instrument display ahead of the wheel. Most renters stop noticing by day two, but if you want physical dials and buttons, a week of this will grate.

2021 was also the year Tesla fitted the heat pump and double-paned front glass. Leave the car in 45 degree sun and it bakes like any other, but you can pre-cool it from the app while you are still in the lift, which is the most useful summer feature it has. Once you are moving the front vents pull hard and the rear seat has its own, so a full cabin cools evenly instead of leaving the back row suffering. The glass roof soaks up heat while parked, which is exactly why that pre-cool is worth thirty seconds.

The battery question, answered properly

This is what people actually want to know, so no spin. Tesla's own fleet data and independent tracking both put a typical Model 3 at around 90 percent of its original capacity after four to five years. Most of that loss happens in the first year, then the curve flattens out. On a 2021 car you are looking at losing roughly a tenth of the range, not a third.

Depending on which battery your car carries, around 55 to 75 kWh usable, the 2021 Model 3 was rated somewhere between about 450 and 580 km when new. Take that ten percent off, then take more off for a Dubai summer with the AC working flat out and some highway speed, and plan for roughly 320 to 460 km of real driving on a full charge. That still clears a normal day comfortably.

Charging, not range, is what decides whether this rental suits you. DEWA's EV Green Charger points cover malls, hotels and main roads, and Tesla's Superchargers handle the fast top-ups. If you can plug in overnight where you are staying, you will start each morning near full and never give it another thought. If you cannot, you will be building one or two charging stops into your week, which some people find trivial and others find genuinely irritating.

Space, luggage and the five seats

The Model 3 carries more than its shape suggests. There is 561 litres of cargo space all in, and that total includes an 88 litre front boot that takes a cabin case or swallows the charging cables so they are not rolling around behind you. The rear boot has a deep well under the floor for the soft bags you would otherwise pile on top. For two people flying out of DXB or DWC with a large case each plus soft bags, luggage is a solved problem.

Five adults is where it tightens. The rear bench is fine for two, and the middle seat is a short-journey position rather than a week-long one. The roof slopes enough that tall passengers in the back will notice. For two adults and two kids with a week of mall runs and school drop-offs, it is genuinely roomy.

On the road, and where it shows its age

The drivetrain is the reason to book this car. Instant torque with no gearbox to wake up means you slot into fast E11 traffic the moment you press the pedal, and even the slowest 2021 version reaches 100 km/h in about 5.6 seconds. It is quick without being dramatic about it. One-pedal driving, where lifting off slows the car, clicks into place within a day and you stop reaching for the brake in traffic.

Refinement is where the years show. The pre-facelift car has single-pane rear glass and less sound deadening than the current one, so on coarse asphalt at 120 you get real tyre roar in the back of the cabin. The ride is firm too, and Dubai's sharper speed bumps and expansion joints come through the seat more than they would in a petrol sedan of similar money. None of it makes the car unpleasant, but if you are picturing a silent luxury cruiser, adjust the picture.

Around town it is easy. At 4.69 metres it fits mall and Marina multi-storey bays without a fight, the turning circle makes U-turns painless, and the 140 mm clearance is standard sedan height, so ease it over the aggressive bumps and steep ramp transitions and nothing catches. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your booking come back to you, and the quiet pace makes it easy to forget how fast you are travelling past a camera. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, and a child under four needs a child seat, which we will fit on request.

Who should rent it

Rent the Model 3 2021 if you can charge where you are staying, you want the drivetrain and the tech, and you would rather put your money into how the car drives than how quiet it is. For that renter it is one of the smartest weeks on our fleet, and being able to take it from 18 when most desks stop at 21 matters to a lot of people.

Skip it if refinement is high on your list. A comparable petrol sedan is quieter and softer over bad surfaces, and the current Model 3 fixed most of what the 2021 car gets criticised for. Skip it too if the idea of planning a charge on a packed trip sounds like work. The battery is not the problem people expect it to be. The road noise might be.
