Most rental desks in Dubai won't hand a sedan to a 21-year-old, let alone someone younger. We rent the Suzuki Ciaz 2025 from age 18, which makes this one of the few proper four-door cars a younger driver can book here without a fight. The Ciaz is our roomy economy sedan: a 1.5-litre automatic that sips fuel, seats five with real room in the back, and carries a boot that shames cars a class above. This page is about who that combination suits. If you want space and low running costs over badge or pace, it's an easy call. If you need highway muscle or a premium cabin, read on for where it falls short.
The pitch is space at an economy rate. The 1.5-litre petrol drives the front wheels through an automatic and makes 105 hp, tuned for calm city work rather than urgency. You're not renting this for the engine. You're renting it for the cabin, which is unusually generous for the class, and for a fuel bill that stays small across a week of driving.
The interior is plain and honest. Hard plastics, a simple dash, and the kind of finish you expect at this rate. Nothing rattles, nothing impresses. After a day you stop noticing, because the seats are soft and the cabin stays quiet enough at city speeds.
The Ciaz spends its budget on room. The wheelbase is long for an economy sedan, so the rear bench has knee room that adults actually use. Three across the back works for a hotel-to-mall hop, and two travel in genuine comfort on a longer day out.
The boot is the headline. At 510 litres it's bigger than most sedans in this bracket offer, and that changes the airport-run maths. For a DXB or DWC pickup, two large cases plus a couple of soft bags go in flat, with a third fitting if you pack with any sense. A family of four with a week of luggage keeps the bags in the boot and the passengers keep their legroom. That's the practical edge over a hatchback renting for similar money.

The 43-litre tank and the frugal 1.5-litre are the other half of the value case. Suzuki's lab figures sit around 20 km per litre, and Dubai won't give you that. With the AC fighting high-40s heat and stop-start traffic on the school run, plan for roughly 13 to 15 km per litre in real city use, better on a steady highway cruise. Even at the honest figure, a full tank covers a normal week of city driving and then some. You'll fill up maybe once across a typical rental, and a couple of airport runs won't leave you hunting for a station mid-trip. Salik tolls and any RTA fines run on the renter's account, so the gate beeps and the airport charges are yours to settle.
The automatic is the right call for Dubai. In stop-and-go traffic you don't want a clutch, and the Ciaz's auto is smooth enough around town. On the open road, 105 hp is modest. It cruises at 100 to 120 on the E11 without fuss, but ask for a hard overtake or a quick merge into fast traffic and the engine works for it, with a beat of lag before the speed arrives. For one or two people it's fine. Load it with five adults and luggage and the climb to speed slows further. Match your expectations to that and it's a relaxed, easy car.
At 4.49 metres the Ciaz is a compact sedan, not a big one, so it parks easily. Tight multi-storey bays in the Marina or a packed mall garage are no drama, and the light steering makes U-turns and reversing simple. The 170 mm of clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and mall ramps without you wincing.
Cooling matters more than spec sheets admit once the car has baked in a 45-degree car park. The Ciaz's AC pulls a hot cabin down at a steady, ordinary pace rather than a fast one, so the first few minutes after a midday pickup are warm. The front vents do the work, and there are no rear vents, so back-seat passengers wait a little longer for the cool air. Give it a head start with the doors shut before you load the kids in. Child seats are required for under-fours, and we'll fit one on request.
Rent the 2025 Ciaz if you want sedan space and a big boot on an economy budget, you're mostly driving in the city, and a relaxed pace suits you. For younger drivers who can rent it from 18, it's one of the most sensible four-doors on the list, and couples or small families doing airport runs get the most out of it. If you want a higher view of the road or real highway muscle for long fast runs, look at a crossover or a larger-engined sedan. And if it's just you darting through the tightest parts of town, a hatchback parks tighter and costs even less. For the roomy, fuel-light middle ground, the Ciaz is hard to beat at this rate.
