Need room in the back and a boot that takes real suitcases, but on an economy budget? The Suzuki Ciaz 2024 is the sedan we reach for, and we deliver it anywhere in Dubai within one to two hours, debit cards and pay-on-delivery accepted. It rents from 18, where most desks make you wait until 21. The Ciaz earns its place in our economy line on space alone: a rear bench adults can use and a 480-litre class boot, wrapped in a mild-hybrid 1.5 that sips fuel. What this page settles is whether that space is worth picking over a smaller, cheaper car, and where the Ciaz runs short.
The Ciaz has one of the roomier cabins at this rate, and the back seat is where you feel it. The wheelbase is long for an economy sedan, so rear knee room is genuine rather than token. Two adults stretch out on a longer day, and three across works for a hotel-to-mall hop. Up front the story is plainer. You get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, single-zone climate, and hard but hard-wearing plastics. Nobody will call it plush, and we won't pretend otherwise. What renters actually notice is the soft seats and a cabin that stays quiet enough at city speeds.
Then there's the boot, which is the reason most people pick this car over a hatch.
For a DXB or DWC pickup with a full party, the boot does the heavy lifting. Two large 23 kg suitcases go in flat with room for soft bags on top, and a third large case fits if you pack with a bit of thought. A family of four with a week of luggage won't be stacking bags on the back seat. That's the practical edge the Ciaz holds over a smaller sedan or a hatchback: the cases stay in the boot and the passengers keep their legroom.

At 4.49 metres the Ciaz is a compact sedan, not a big one, so placing it is easy. A 5.4-metre turning radius and light steering make U-turns and reverse parking simple, and tight Marina multi-storey bays or a packed mall garage don't ask much of you. Rear parking sensors and a backup camera come standard, which helps in the cramped slots. The 170 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and mall ramps without you wincing, and the soft suspension smooths out broken patches and ramp lips. This is a car you stop thinking about in traffic, which for a daily runabout is the point.
The 1.5 makes 104 hp through a 4-speed automatic, and around town that combination is fine. The auto is smooth in stop-and-go traffic, which is exactly where you want it for Dubai, and the mild-hybrid setup shaves a little off the fuel bill at low speeds. On the open road, be honest with yourself about the power. It holds 100 to 120 on the E11 happily enough, but a hard overtake or a quick merge onto a fast stretch arrives with a beat of lag while the engine and the four-speed sort themselves out. Load it with five and luggage and that climb to speed slows further. Driven relaxed it's perfectly content. Driven like you're in a hurry, it isn't the tool.
The 43-litre tank looks small, but the mild-hybrid 1.5 is light on fuel, so the two balance out. Suzuki quotes 15 to 18 km/L, and in real Dubai conditions you'll land toward the lower half of that: AC fighting 45-degree heat and stop-start school-run traffic both cost you. Even so, a full tank covers a normal week of city driving with room to spare, so you're filling up maybe once across a typical rental. Salik tolls and any RTA fines run on the renter's account, so the gate beeps and the airport gantries are yours to settle.
Cooling matters more than a spec sheet lets on once the car has baked in an open car park at 45 degrees. The Ciaz runs single-zone climate with rear vents, which is better than many cars at this price, where back-seat passengers get nothing. The front vents do most of the work and pull a hot cabin down at a steady, ordinary pace rather than a dramatic one, so the first couple of minutes after a midday pickup are warm. Crack the windows for thirty seconds to dump the trapped heat, then close up and let it settle. The rear outlets mean kids in the back aren't left waiting too long, which is worth having on a family car. Child seats are required for under-fours, and we'll fit one on request.
Rent the Ciaz if you want sedan space and a big boot on an economy budget, you drive mostly in the city, and a relaxed pace suits you. Couples and small families running to and from the airport get the most from it: luggage in the boot, legroom kept, fuel bill low. Look elsewhere if you want a high seating position or real highway muscle for long fast runs, where a crossover or a larger-engined sedan serves you better. And if it's just you darting through the busiest parts of town and slotting into the tightest kerbside gaps, a hatchback parks tighter and costs even less to run. For the roomy, fuel-light middle ground, the Ciaz is hard to beat at this rate.
