Few sedans this size cost so little to run, which is the whole reason we hand over the Suzuki Ciaz 2023 so often in Dubai. Every rental comes with 250 km a day baked in, enough to cover a JBR-to-DXB run and a full day of errands without watching the odometer. What you get is a frugal compact sedan with a genuinely big boot, the kind of car that earns its keep on fuel bills and luggage space rather than badge appeal. This page is about that trade: a cheap-to-feed sedan with room where it counts, and the honest bits about where it falls short.
Think of it as a budget airport-and-commuter sedan. The 510 litre boot is the headline. That is more than most cars two classes up, and it swallows two large suitcases plus a couple of cabin bags with the parcel shelf still flat. For a family flying into DXB or DWC with a week of luggage, that matters more than horsepower. You load the boot, you don't pile cases on the back seat, and four adults still travel in comfort.
Running cost is the other half of the case. The 1.5 litre returns around 15 km/L in city driving and closer to 18 on the highway, and with a 43 litre tank that works out to roughly 768 km between fill-ups in mixed use. On a normal week of Dubai driving, school runs, the office, a Marina dinner, you'll fill it once. That is the difference between a car that quietly does its job and one that nags you toward the petrol station every few days.
Five seats, real legroom in the back, and that 510 litre boot. The Ciaz is one of the longer cars in the economy class at 4490 mm, and most of that length goes into the cabin and trunk rather than styling. Three adults across the rear is fine for an airport transfer; two adults and two child seats is comfortable for a longer stay.
The boot easily takes two large checked cases and a soft bag laid flat. If you're a couple with carry-ons, you'll wonder what to do with all the space. The honest caveat sits up front: the cabin is basic. Hard plastics, a simple dash, and the kind of fit you expect at this rate. Nothing rattles, nothing feels special. You're paying for space and economy, not soft-touch trim.

The engine is relaxed rather than quick. With 103 HP pushing a 4-speed automatic, the Ciaz is happy up to about 100 to 120 on Sheikh Zayed Road, cruising calmly in the right-hand lanes. Ask it to overtake a truck quickly on the E11 and you'll notice the older 4-speed gearbox hunting for a downshift. Plan your moves and it's fine. Treat it like a sports sedan and you'll be disappointed.
Around town it's easy. The 5.4 metre turning radius makes U-turns and tight multi-storey bays simple, and at 1730 mm wide it slots into Marina parking without drama. The 160 mm ground clearance clears mall ramps and standard speed bumps without scraping, though you'll still slow for the aggressive ones in older communities.
Heat is the real Dubai test, and the Ciaz handles it reasonably. After a few hours parked in 45 degree sun the cabin bakes, as every car here does, but the front vents pull the temperature down within a few minutes once you're moving. There are no rear vents, so back-seat passengers wait a little longer to feel it. For a budget sedan the AC is honest and adequate rather than powerful.
A few practical points before you book. The renter pays Salik tolls, so factor in the gates on your daily route. Any RTA fines during your rental pass to you as well, and seatbelts are required in every seat, with child seats mandatory for under-fours. None of this is unusual, but it's worth knowing the costs land on the driver, not the car.
Delivery runs 1 to 2 hours across most of Dubai, and we take cards, cash, bank transfer, and the usual digital wallets, so you don't need to arrange a deposit dance before you drive.
Rent the Ciaz if your priorities are a low fuel bill and a boot that actually fits airport luggage. For commuters, small families, and anyone doing regular DXB or DWC runs, it's one of the smartest-value sedans we keep on the lot. The cabin is plain and the engine is calm, and you should know that going in.
If you want quicker overtaking, a nicer interior, or a more refined gearbox, step up to a Honda City or a Toyota Corolla. They cost more to rent and to fuel, but they feel a class above. The Ciaz isn't trying to be that car. It's the one you pick when value and luggage space win the argument, and for a lot of Dubai renters, they do.
