Porsche Cayenne 2024 - start from 1,151 AED / day

We rent the 2024 Porsche Cayenne in Dubai with a no-deposit option, which is rare for a car in this bracket and worth knowing before you tie up a big hold on your card for a week. The Cayenne is the SUV that still drives like a Porsche. The 3.0-litre turbo V6 makes 340 horsepower, sends it to all four wheels, and gets a five-seat family hauler to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. That is the whole argument for this car: a genuinely fast, beautifully built SUV that carries people and luggage but feels alive when you ask it to. The questions below are the ones that decide whether it's the right rental for your week, or whether you'd be happier in something softer.

Does it actually drive like a sports car

Mostly, yes. The steering is quick and accurate, body roll is kept tight, and on Sheikh Zayed Road it settles into a fast cruise and overtakes without drama. Drop a couple of gears and the V6 pulls hard well past legal speeds, so the 248 km/h top speed is academic here but the mid-range punch is not. You feel the Porsche engineering in how the car changes direction, not just in how fast it goes in a straight line.

The trade-off is the ride. Even the base car rides firmly, and on Dubai's expansion joints and patched older roads you feel more of the surface than you would in a comfort-tuned luxury SUV. It's never punishing, but it's not a magic carpet either. If your week is mostly airport transfers and long motorway stretches with the family asleep, that firmness is a cost, not a feature.

The numbers above are the reference. What matters is how they play out across a real week, so the sections do the interpreting.

Will my luggage and family fit

For five people and a normal trip, comfortably. The 772-litre boot swallows two or three large cases plus the soft bags that come with them, which is more than most of its rivals manage and far more than any coupe-shaped SUV. Fold the rear seats and it turns cavernous, so a furniture run or a big grocery haul is no problem.

The catch is the third row: there isn't one. This is a five-seater. If you need to move six or seven people, the Cayenne is the wrong car and you want a larger seven-seat SUV instead. For two adults, two or three kids and a week of mall trips and beach days, the space is generous and the seats are properly comfortable.

How does it cope with Dubai heat and parking

The cabin cools quickly. The AC has real strength up front and rear vents keep back-seat passengers comfortable, so even after the car has sat in a 45-degree car park the interior drops to bearable within a couple of minutes and properly cold soon after. The leather seats get hot when parked in direct sun, as they do in any premium car, so a sunshade earns its place in July and August.

Parking takes a little more care. At nearly five metres long and almost two metres wide, the Cayenne fills a Marina tower bay and needs deliberate positioning in tight mall parking. The reversing camera and sensors make it manageable, and the standard ride height clears speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping. Just don't expect to thread it through gaps a small hatch would shrug off.

What will it cost me to run

This is a performance V6, so be honest with yourself about fuel. Driven gently it returns reasonable figures for its size, but Dubai traffic and the temptation to use the engine push real consumption up, and pressing on hard will empty the tank quickly. The 90-litre tank gives a long cruising range, so on a calm week of city driving and a couple of highway runs you'll likely fill up once. Lean on the throttle and you'll see the gauge move.

A few local rules apply to you as the renter. Salik tolls are billed to you, and any RTA speed-camera fines pass through to you as well, which is worth remembering in a car this quick. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat and children under four need a child seat. None of this is unusual for Dubai, but the speed enforcement point matters more in a Cayenne than in a slow city car.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Cayenne if you want a premium SUV that's genuinely fun to drive, you're carrying up to five people, and you'll spend real time on Sheikh Zayed Road or running to DXB and DWC. It rewards a driver who notices how a car handles, and the cabin quality holds up against anything in its class. The no-deposit option makes a car at this level easier to justify for a week.

Look elsewhere if comfort is your top priority. If your week is mostly long, smooth airport and motorway miles with sleeping passengers, a comfort-tuned luxury SUV will treat them better than the firm-riding Cayenne. And if you need six or seven seats, this five-seater rules itself out. One more honest note: the real-world car is shaped heavily by options, so the cabin you collect may be more or less plush than a fully loaded press car. For the driver who wants pace and engineering in an SUV, though, nothing in this bracket does it quite like the Cayenne. Note that stricter security terms may apply on a car at this value, so confirm the details when you book.
