Out on Sheikh Zayed Road, the Porsche Cayenne 2024 does the thing a Dubai SUV actually needs to do: it gets up to the limit instantly, sits flat at speed, and makes a DXB run feel like nothing. We rent it from age 18, which most desks in the city won't do, and we deliver it to you within an hour or two. The version most renters book is the base 3.0-litre V6, and that's the one this page is about, because the honest argument here is that the entry Cayenne is quick enough that paying up for a hotter engine rarely makes sense for a week in the city.
The base car runs a 3.0-litre turbo V6 making 340 hp through an 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic and all-wheel drive. On paper it's 0 to 100 in 6.2 seconds with a 245 km/h top end, and in the real world that translates to a car that never feels short of pace. Pulling onto the E11, slotting into a fast lane, overtaking a slow lorry near the airport, all of it happens without you working the throttle. The AWD keeps it planted in the rain and on the painted lane markings that get slick in a summer shower. You'd notice a V8's extra shove on a track. You won't miss it on a Dubai commute.

The 75-litre tank paired with a combined figure near 9 litres per 100 km gives you real range, comfortably into the 700s on a relaxed week and pushing 800 km if you stay off the throttle. In practice you'll see worse than the official number in heavy Marina traffic with the AC fighting the heat, and better on long E11 stretches. Either way, a couple of airport runs and a week of city driving won't have you refuelling every other day. It takes premium petrol, so budget for that rather than the cheapest grade.
This is a five-seater with a properly usable boot. The 770 litres behind the rear seats takes three large suitcases plus the soft bags around them, which is enough for a family arriving through DXB or DWC. Fold the rear bench and it opens up to 1710 litres, so it works as the airport collection car or for a Hatta weekend with bikes and bags. If you regularly carry six or seven people, though, the Cayenne's five seats won't stretch, and you should look at a three-row SUV instead.
Cooling is a strong point. The climate system pulls a sun-baked cabin down fast, the front vents hit hard, and rear passengers get their own outlets, which is what you want for kids in the back during a July afternoon. The car copes with 45-degree heat the way a premium SUV should.
At just under 4.92 metres it's a large vehicle, so tight multi-storey bays and the older Marina ramps want a bit of care, but the cameras and parking sensors make it manageable. The roughly 210 mm of ground clearance clears speed bumps and steep mall entrances without scraping, and the AWD plus that clearance will handle a graded desert track or the run up to Hatta. For deep soft sand you'd still want a dedicated off-roader.
Salik tolls are charged to you at each gantry, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours to settle. A child under four needs a child seat by law, which we can fit on request. The base Cayenne is far easier on fuel than the V8 models, but it's still a performance SUV, so plan the week around premium petrol and the costs above.
Rent the Cayenne 2024 base V6 if you want a fast, comfortable, genuinely premium SUV for Dubai's roads and you're fine with five seats. It's the value sweet spot of the range: quick enough that the V8s are mostly about sound and bragging rights, and far more sensible at the pump. Size up to a three-row SUV only if you need six or seven seats, and step up to a Cayenne S or hybrid only if you have a specific reason to, not by default. For most renters, this is the one to take.
