Porsche Cayenne 2024 - start from 1,285 AED / day

Most people who book a Porsche Cayenne 2024 in Dubai are after one car that covers everything: the school run, a week of airport pickups, and a fast blast up to Hatta on the weekend. That's exactly where the base Cayenne sits, and we'll bring it to your door anywhere in Dubai within one to two hours so you can start using it the same day. The case we make here is for space and badge over outright firepower. This is the Cayenne that carries five people and a full boot in genuine luxury, drives far better than an SUV this size has any right to, and rents for a good deal less than the S or GTS above it. The catch is the running cost, and we'll be straight about that.

Room for the family and the cases

Five seats, and the back is where this car quietly earns its rate. Two adults up front sit low and well supported, and three across the rear travel without complaint, even on a longer run out to the desert. The build quality is the part photos undersell. Everything your hands land on feels machined rather than moulded, and a Dubai summer doesn't make the cabin creak or fade the way cheaper SUVs do.

The boot holds 772 litres with the seats up, which is generous for the class. Two large hard cases and a couple of soft bags load in flat without folding anything down, so a four-person DXB pickup with a week's luggage is straightforward rather than a packing puzzle. Drop the rear seats for the rare big-haul day and it opens past 1,500 litres.

How it drives, and what it costs to run

The 3.0-litre turbo V6 makes 340 hp and gets the Cayenne to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. That's brisk for a two-tonne SUV, and on Sheikh Zayed Road an overtake is done before you've thought it through. The steering is quick and the body stays flat through a fast slip road, so it shrinks around you in a way comfort-first rivals never manage. The ride is on the firm side as standard, never harsh, but Dubai's patched tarmac and expansion joints come through more than they would in a softer cruiser.

The 90-litre tank is large, and you'll need it. A turbocharged V6 in a heavy SUV is not frugal, and stop-start city traffic plus the heat empties it faster than the brochure figure suggests. Driven sensibly on the highway you'll get a few hundred kilometres between fills. Lean on the performance and you'll see the pump sooner. Plan on filling once, maybe twice, across a normal week.

Heat and the school run

The air conditioning copes well with a June afternoon. Park it in direct sun at 45 degrees and the first minute is brutal like any car, but the system pulls the cabin down fast and the rear vents keep back-seat passengers comfortable, which matters on a midday airport transfer with kids aboard. The tinted glass and quick cool-down make the parked-in-the-sun problem a minor one rather than a misery.

Parking, ramps and Dubai roads

At 4,930 mm long and nearly two metres wide, this is a proper large SUV, so older mall basements and tight Marina bays ask for a little care on the ramps and corners. The 210 mm of clearance handles speed bumps and steep car-park entries without scraping, and the all-wheel drive plus quick steering make U-turns easy once you've judged the width. On the open road it settles into a planted, quiet cruise that holds 120 without effort, and the AWD gives you the confidence to take the family up to Hatta on the tarmac. For soft dune driving you'd still want a dedicated 4x4, but for everything a Dubai week actually involves it's well sorted.

One practical note. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you as the renter, and enforcement here is strict, so the easy pace is worth respecting. Seat belts are required in every seat, and a child seat is mandatory for under-fours, which we can fit on request. The 250 km a day allowance covers city driving and most day trips.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Cayenne 2024 if you want one car that does luxury family duty and still entertains when the road opens up, all at a rate well under the hotter S and GTS. It's the sensible, spacious pick of the range, with a cabin that justifies the badge and a boot that takes the airport run in its stride.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If your week is mostly long, soft motorway cruising with the family asleep in the back, the firm standard ride will count against it and a comfort-led luxury SUV suits you better. And if your budget is the deciding factor, the V6's real-world thirst is a genuine line item, so a mainstream SUV will cost noticeably less to feed across a week. For the driver who wants the space, the badge and the everyday usefulness in one car, this is the Cayenne to take.
