Want a fast SUV without paying for the brand-new badge? We hand over the Porsche Cayenne 2023 to your door in Dubai inside 1 to 2 hours, and for our money it's the sweet spot in the range. A recent enough year to feel current, a sensible rate next to the latest model, and the same thing that's always made a Cayenne worth renting: it drives like a sports car while still swallowing a family and a week of luggage. The base 3.0-litre V6 puts out 340 hp and runs 0 to 100 in 6.2 seconds, so this is a quick car that happens to seat five. The question this page settles is whether that pace and that beautifully built cabin are worth the firmer ride and the fuel bill.
The 2023 sits in a useful spot. You're renting a car that looks and feels nearly identical to the newest Cayenne from the driver's seat, without the premium a current-year plate carries. The cabin is where Porsche earns its keep. Materials are dense and properly screwed together, the driving position is low and snug for an SUV, and nothing rattles or feels like it was built down to a price.
One honest caveat up front. The Cayenne's options list is enormous, and the real car you get depends on which boxes the first owner ticked. Air suspension, the better sound system, ventilated seats, a panoramic roof: these change the experience a lot. Our base V6 is the standard car, and it's plenty. Just don't expect every luxury feature to be present unless you confirm it.
This is the part that separates the Cayenne from a comfort-first luxury SUV. The steering has real weight and feedback, the body stays flat through a fast corner, and the V6 pulls hard from low revs. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises quietly at 120 and has a deep reserve for overtaking, where slower SUVs run out of breath. The eight-speed automatic is smooth in traffic and sharp when you want it.
The trade-off is the ride. Even on the standard setup the Cayenne is firm, and you feel sharp expansion joints and broken tarmac more than you would in a softer rival. It's never harsh, but it's a sporty SUV, not a magic carpet. If your week is mostly long highway hauls with the family asleep, that firmness is the one thing to weigh.

Five seats, and the boot is genuinely useful at around 770 litres with the rear seats up. Two large hard cases plus a couple of soft bags fit without a fight, which covers an airport run for a family of four from DXB or DWC. Drop the rear seats and you've got a near-flat load floor for bulkier trips. Headroom and legroom in the back are fine for adults on a city day, though three across the rear bench for a long drive is tighter than the badge suggests.
Now the fuel. Be realistic here. A turbo V6 Cayenne driven the way it invites you to drive it, in Dubai heat with the AC working hard, will not sip fuel. Expect frequent stops if you enjoy the performance, and a more reasonable figure if you keep it calm on the highway. The 75-litre tank gives a decent cruising range, but a week of city driving means you'll visit a petrol station more than once. That's the cost of carrying this much engine.
The AC is strong and pulls a cabin that's been baking at 45 degrees down quickly, and there are rear vents to keep back-seat passengers comfortable, which matters with kids on a summer afternoon. The all-wheel-drive grip and 210 mm of clearance handle speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping, so the Marina parking gymnastics and steep multi-storey entries aren't a worry.
Size is the thing to respect. This is a midsize-to-large SUV, and tight bays and U-turns ask for a bit of care, though the parking sensors and camera take the stress out of it. A couple of Dubai rules to keep in mind: Salik tolls are billed to you as the renter, and any RTA speeding fines or camera penalties pass to you too, which is worth remembering in a car this eager. Seat belts are required in every seat and a child seat is mandatory for under-fours.
Rent the Cayenne 2023 if you want a fast, beautifully made SUV that's genuinely fun to drive, and you'll happily trade a firmer ride and a bigger fuel bill for that. It's the right call for someone who'd rather have pace and a Porsche cabin than the last word in plushness, and the recent-year rate makes it the value pick across the range. If your priority is a soft, hushed ride for long family cruises, or you want to keep refuelling stops and running costs down, a comfort-first luxury SUV will suit you better. For everyone else, this is the Cayenne to book.
