We bring the Porsche Cayenne 2023 to your door in Dubai within an hour or two, and you can take it with no deposit by paying a small fee at checkout instead of locking up a large hold on your card. The decision that actually matters on this car isn't the badge, it's the powertrain, because the 2023 Cayenne came in a wide spread from a 3.0-litre V6 through the V8s up to the plug-in hybrid. That choice changes how the car drives, how often you stop for fuel, and what you're paying for. Our take: for most renters the V6 is all the Cayenne you need, and the rest is for people who specifically want it.
The 2023 Cayenne range runs from 335 hp at the V6 end to 729 hp at the very top, with a V6 plug-in hybrid sitting in the middle. For a week in Dubai, the base V6 already feels quick and pulls cleanly onto Sheikh Zayed Road without you ever asking for more. Step up to a V8 and you're buying noise and outright pace you'll rarely use inside city limits. The hybrid is the interesting one if your week is mostly short city hops, since it can run on the 17.9 kWh battery for the school run and mall trips, then fall back to petrol for the long stuff. If you don't have somewhere to charge it, skip the hybrid and take a petrol car.
Every version uses the 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic and all-wheel drive, so the gearbox and traction are sorted whichever engine you land on.

The Cayenne is the practical Porsche, and the boot shows it. With all five seats up you'll fit three large suitcases plus the soft bags that come with them, which covers a couple or a small family flying in through DXB. Drop the rear seats and it swallows up to six large cases, so it doubles as the airport car when you're collecting people. It seats five rather than seven, so if you regularly move six or more, this isn't the SUV, look at something with a third row.
Cabin cooling is never in doubt here. The climate system is strong, the front vents bite quickly, and rear passengers get their own outlets, so even a car baked at 45 degrees in an open lot is comfortable a minute or two after you set off. That rear airflow matters most with kids in the back.
At close to 4.93 metres the Cayenne is a big car, and you feel it in tight Marina bays and older multi-storey ramps. The cameras and sensors do the heavy lifting, but a first-timer should take the bays slowly. The flip side is the 210 mm of standard clearance, which rises to 244 mm on the air suspension, so speed bumps and steep mall entrances are a non-issue. On the E11 it's in its element, planted and quiet at the national limit and effortless to overtake in. It'll handle a graded desert track or the Hatta road without complaint, though for soft dune driving you'd still want a body-on-frame 4x4.
Salik tolls are billed to you as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fines during the rental come to you as well. A child under four needs a child seat by law, and we can fit one if you ask. None of that is unusual for Dubai, but the Cayenne drinks more fuel than a smaller SUV, so factor the 90-litre tank into your week rather than assuming one fill does it all.
Rent the Cayenne 2023 if you want a genuine performance SUV with real luggage space and a cabin that feels worth the rate, and you're happy with five seats. For nearly everyone, the V6 is the smart pick, quick enough for any road here and easier on fuel than the V8s. Choose the hybrid only if you can charge it and your driving is mostly short city runs. Go up to a V8 only if the extra pace and sound are the point of the trip for you. And if you need six or seven seats, this is the moment to size up to a three-row SUV instead.
