Porsche Cayenne 2022 - start from 901 AED / day

Renting a Porsche Cayenne 2022 in Dubai puts a genuine performance SUV badge on your week at a rate that sits well under the S and GTS versions, and we deliver it across the city in one to two hours. This is the base 3.0-litre V6 Cayenne, and that's not a compromise so much as the sweet spot: it has all the build quality, the badge and the everyday usefulness, with pace that's more than quick enough and a fuel bill that's easier to live with than the hotter cars. Our argument is that the base Cayenne is the value pick of the range for someone who wants a beautifully made family SUV with real performance on tap, not a track toy.

The cabin and who actually fits

The part photos undersell is how solid everything feels. Surfaces your hands land on are properly built, the driving position is low and sports-car correct, and the materials hold up to a Dubai summer better than the soft-touch plastics in cheaper SUVs. It seats five, two adults up front and three across the back travel comfortably, and four adults on a long highway run is still fine.

One honest note: the car you book is the standard specification. The Cayenne options list is enormous, and a heavily optioned press car with air suspension, a panoramic roof and the full leather treatment is a different, more expensive animal. The base car is lovely, but judge it on what's in front of you rather than the brochure.

Boot and luggage

The boot holds 770 litres with the rear seats up, which is generous for the class. Two large hard cases plus a couple of soft bags load in without folding anything down, so a DXB pickup for a family of four with a week's luggage is comfortable rather than a game of Tetris. Drop the rear seats and it opens to well over 1,500 litres for the rare big-haul day. This is one of the genuinely practical things about the Cayenne: it carries a family and its gear the way an SUV should, then drives like nothing of the sort.

The performance you actually use

The base V6 makes 340 hp and reaches 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, which means an overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road is done before you've finished thinking about it. The car never feels like it's working hard at 120, the steering is quick and honest, and body roll stays tightly controlled for something this size. It shrinks around you on a fast slip road the way most luxury SUVs simply don't.

The trade is the ride. The standard setup leans firm, and Dubai's expansion joints and patched tarmac come through more than they would in a softer rival. It's never harsh, but if your week is mostly airport runs and long, gentle cruising with the family asleep in the back, a comfort-led SUV will feel more relaxing. Rent the Cayenne when you want to drive it, not just be carried.

Fuel, heat and driving it around town

The 90-litre tank is large, but a turbo V6 in a heavy SUV is not economical, and Dubai stop-start traffic plus the temptation to use the performance empties it quicker than the brochure suggests. Driven sensibly on the highway you'll get a comfortable few hundred kilometres between fills, and harder than that you'll be back at the pump sooner. Plan on filling once, maybe twice, across a normal week, and note that it wants premium fuel.

In June heat the air conditioning copes well. Parked in direct sun at 45 degrees the cabin is brutal for the first minute, but the system pulls the temperature down fast and there are rear vents, so back-seat passengers aren't left to suffer on the school run. At 4,918 mm long and nearly two metres wide this is a proper midsize-large SUV, so Marina towers and older mall basements ask for a bit of care on the tight bays. The roughly 210 mm of clearance handles speed bumps and steep car-park entries without scraping. Salik tolls and any RTA fines pass to you as the renter, and Dubai enforcement is strict, so the easy pace is worth respecting. Belts are mandatory in every seat and a child seat is required for under-fours.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Cayenne 2022 if you want a fast, beautifully built SUV that genuinely entertains and still carries the family and the cases, all at a rate well under the hotter versions. It's the value choice in the Cayenne range and an easy car to enjoy for a week here.

If your priority is a plush, soft-riding cruiser for long airport-and-highway weeks, the firm ride and real-world thirst will count against it, and a comfort-first luxury SUV suits you better. And if the badge isn't the point and you just want cheap, roomy transport, a mainstream crossover will cost far less to fuel and book. But for the driver who wants the Porsche badge, the real pace and the everyday practicality in one car, the base Cayenne is the one to take.
