Picture the standard Dubai week: a daily run down Sheikh Zayed Road, a grocery shop, and one airport drop at the end. The Nissan Sentra 2022 handles that routine without fuss, and we rent it in Dubai from age 18, while most of the market won't hand you the keys until you're 21. So if you're under 21 and want a real sedan rather than a tin-box hatchback, this is one of the few cars open to you. The rest of this page is about what the Sentra actually does well, where it runs out of road, and who should book something bigger.
The Sentra reads as a compact sedan on paper, but inside it feels a class larger. At 4,641 mm long it's close to mid-size, and the back seat is the part that surprises people. Two adults sit behind two adults for a full week without the rear passengers asking to swap. Front seats are wide and softly bolstered, which matters more on a Dubai commute than any cornering grip, since you spend the drive sitting in traffic, not attacking bends.
For a small family doing mall runs and school drop-offs, the space is genuinely useful rather than just adequate. Three across the back works for short hops, two car seats fit, and nobody's knees are jammed into the seatback ahead.

The 2.0-litre makes 149 hp, paired to a CVT and driving the front wheels. Read that as relaxed, not quick. Around town the Sentra is smooth and quiet, and the CVT keeps the engine calm at city speeds. Ask it for a hard overtake on the E11 and it answers a beat late, with the typical CVT drone as the revs climb before the speed catches up.
For 90 percent of Dubai driving that's a non-issue. You're cruising at 100 to 120, the cabin stays settled, and the gearbox does exactly what a daily commuter needs. If you regularly want to surge past trucks on the outer lane or you just enjoy a car that pulls when you ask, the Sentra will frustrate you, and the Altima with its bigger engine is the better call. Booking it for errands and commuting? You won't notice the modest power once.
The trunk holds roughly 405 litres, which is large for the class and the Sentra's quiet advantage over rival hatchbacks. Two large suitcases plus a couple of cabin bags go in flat, so a family of four returning from the airport doesn't have to play luggage Tetris on the kerb. For a DXB or DWC run with a full load, this is one of the few budget sedans where the boot isn't the bottleneck.
The rear seats fold if you need to carry something long, though for normal travel you won't bother. Most renters find the standard boot swallows a week's worth of bags on its own.
Real Dubai economy lands around 7.1 litres per 100 km if your week mixes city and highway, a bit thirstier if you're stuck in stop-and-go on the way into the centre every morning. The tank is roughly 47 litres, which gives a realistic 600 to 650 km between fills. For most renters that's one fuel stop a week, sometimes none on a lighter schedule. Fuel here is cheap by global standards, so the Sentra is inexpensive to run even when it's not sipping.
Worth knowing before you drive off: Salik tolls are charged to you as the renter, and any RTA speed or parking fine passes through to you too. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, front and back.
Dubai summers push past 45 degrees, and a car that's been parked in the open turns into an oven. The Sentra's AC is strong through the front vents and pulls a baking cabin down to comfortable in a few minutes, helped by the dual rear vents that keep back-seat passengers from cooking on the school run. It's a proper four-occupant cooling setup, not a budget car that only chills the driver.
Parking is easy. At 1,816 mm wide with a tidy turning circle, the Sentra slots into Marina tower bays and mall multi-storeys without the wrestling a bigger sedan demands. The light steering makes U-turns on the wide arterials painless. Ground clearance is modest at around 122 mm, so take steep ramps and aggressive speed bumps slowly, but on normal city roads it's never an issue.
Book the Sentra if you want a comfortable, roomy, easy-to-park sedan for commuting, family errands, and airport runs, and especially if you're 18 to 20 and shut out of most rental fleets. The cabin space and boot punch above the price, and the AC copes with a Dubai summer. Look elsewhere if pace matters to you: frequent highway overtaking or a heavier right foot points you to the Altima. And if you're a solo driver doing only short city hops, a smaller hatchback will cost you less and park even easier. For the daily Dubai grind with people and bags aboard, though, the Sentra is the comfortable, sensible pick.
