The Sentra settles into a cruise more calmly, holding 120 km/h on Sheikh Zayed Road with less engine noise reaching the cabin than the smaller car allows. A step-off from a red light is unhurried rather than eager, and the CVT prefers to build speed gradually instead of snapping to it. Asking for a fast overtake with four people aboard will have the engine working audibly, so plan your gap rather than expecting a shove. A 1.8-litre version of this generation exists in the GCC lineup with more power, but it's the less common trim, and the 1.6 you're most likely to be handed does the job most renters actually need: quiet, predictable, cheap to run.

Boot, back seat and the daily use

This is where the Sentra earns the upgrade over its smaller sibling. The boot holds 510 litres, enough for two large suitcases and a couple of carry-ons without anyone kneeling on a lid to close it, which makes a DXB or DWC pickup for a family of four simple rather than a puzzle. The wheelbase runs 2,700 mm, a genuinely long base for this class, and it shows in the back seat: two adults get real knee room on a drive out to Abu Dhabi or Al Ain, and three across works for the airport run even if it's not where you'd want to sit for hours. Ground clearance sits at 165 mm, taller than most sedans its size, so the steeper ramps into mall basements and the sharper speed bumps on residential streets don't need the crawl-and-wince treatment a lower car demands. Who this suits, and who should pick something else

Rent the Sentra 2021 if the Sunny felt a size too small: you want real back-seat room for two adults, a boot that swallows proper luggage, and a car that still costs little to fuel. It suits a family's mall-and-school-run week, a resident upgrading from a compact daily driver, or a visiting family of four who'd rather not repack bags at the airport kerb.

Look elsewhere if you need three adults comfortable in the back seat every day, since the middle position is fine for short hops but not for a long one. Drivers chasing highway urgency should also skip it. The CVT is tuned for calm cruising, not quick overtakes, and a car with a turbocharged engine will feel noticeably more willing at speed. For everything between a Sunny that's too small and a mid-size sedan that's more than you need, the Sentra sits in the gap and fills it well.
