For a week of dune runs, Hatta tracks and a full house of passengers, the Nissan Patrol 2025 is the full-size 4x4 most Gulf families reach for, and we deliver it across Dubai with a no-deposit option so the hold on your card doesn't eat your trip budget. This is the 4.8-litre Super Safari Patrol, the long-bodied seven-seater with a real low-range transfer case, not a soft crossover dressed up for the brochure. If you need a vehicle that carries the whole family to the airport during the week and climbs a sand bowl on the weekend, this is the one to book. The rest of this page is about whether that fits your trip, and where a smaller car would serve you better.
The 4.8 Patrol is old-school in the way that matters off the tarmac. The inline-six makes 280 horsepower and pulls from low revs, the gearbox is a four-speed automatic, and drive goes to all four wheels through a proper transfer case with high and low range. That low range is the whole point. Soft sand, a steep dune face, a rutted Hatta track: you drop into low, air the tyres down, and the Patrol just keeps crawling where a monocoque SUV would dig in and sit.
On road it's a different animal. It cruises Sheikh Zayed Road happily at the limit, and 280 horses move two and a half tonnes without drama, but it's tall and softly sprung, so you steer it rather than throw it around. Zero to 100 takes about 10.8 seconds: this is a hauler, not a sprinter.

Seven seats, and they're usable seats, not penalty boxes. The first two rows are wide and tall enough for adults to sit comfortably on a long day, and the third row takes two adults for an airport hop or kids for the whole week. With all three rows up the boot is modest, enough for a few soft bags and the day's shopping. Fold the third row and the cargo space opens right up, easily swallowing a week of cases for a family of five plus a cooler and beach gear.
So plan around the people. Five travelling means a big square boot and room for everything. Seven travelling means you pack soft duffels over hard shells and accept a couple of bags riding on laps from the airport.
A black Patrol left in a mall car park in July is a furnace when you open the door, same as any car here. This is a large cabin, so the AC takes a minute or two to drag the front down to comfortable, and the third row lags behind that. The saving grace is the vent layout: there are outlets feeding the second and third rows, not just the front, so once it's running everyone gets cold air rather than the back two passengers cooking. Crack the windows for thirty seconds before you set off, let the hot air dump, then close up and let it pull down.
No way around it: at just over five metres long and nearly two wide, the Patrol is a big body to thread through Dubai. Marina side streets and tight multi-storey bays ask for patience, and you'll use the full bay every time. Mall ramps and speed bumps are the easy part, because 235 mm of ground clearance means nothing scrapes where a low sedan would catch. Tight U-turns need a three-point shuffle now and then. If your week is mostly mall runs and narrow underground parking with no desert plans, you're buying size and capability you won't use, and a mid-size SUV parks far easier.
Tolls and traffic fines are the renter's responsibility. Every Salik gantry you pass is billed to you, and any speeding or parking fine during the rental passes through to you too, so keep an eye on the limits on the open stretches of the E11 where this car will happily sit well above them. Seat belts are required in all seven seats, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit on request.
Here's the honest part on running cost. A 4.8-litre petrol six pulling this much weight is thirsty. Reckon on roughly 18 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, and notably more if you spend a day low-range in soft sand. The upside is a 95-litre tank, which still gives a comfortable five-hundred-plus kilometres between fills, enough that a week of city and airport runs means filling up maybe twice. Fuel here is cheap by global standards, but go in knowing this is not an economy car.
What you get for that thirst is genuine ability. The clearance, the low range and the long travel suspension mean Hatta's mountain tracks and the dunes out past the city are well within reach, not a gamble. Air down, engage low range, and the Patrol does what a generation of Gulf families have trusted it to do.
Rent this if you've got a real reason for its size: a family of six or seven, an airport run with everyone and their bags, or a weekend in the dunes where 4x4 capability isn't optional. Nothing in the class does that combination as plainly. If it's two adults doing Marina dinners and the odd road trip, you'll spend the week wrestling a vehicle built for jobs you're not asking it to do, and a smaller SUV or a sedan will be cheaper to run and far easier to park. Book the Patrol for the desert and the full house. Size down for everything else.
