Nissan Patrol 2025 - start from 785 AED / day

Pay how you like when it lands: we take cards, cash, Apple Pay, Google Pay, even crypto on delivery, so the Nissan Patrol 2025 can be parked outside your door in Dubai without you wiring anything in advance. This is the Super Safari, the old-school 4.8-litre version, and that one fact decides everything else about it. You're renting a lot of dependable, full-size 4x4 for the rate, with a simple naturally aspirated engine that just works in the heat. The question this page settles is whether that ruggedness suits your week, or whether you'd be better off in something newer and quieter.

What you're actually renting

The Super Safari is the Patrol that never went soft. Under the bonnet is a 4.8-litre inline-six making 280 hp through a five-speed automatic and a proper part-time 4x4 system. No turbos, no twin-screen dashboard, no air suspension to fail in 48-degree heat. That's the appeal and the catch in one sentence.

It seats seven across three rows, and the body is genuinely big at just over five metres long. For a family that wants room, sand confidence and an engine that shrugs off summer, it earns its keep. If you want hushed motorway refinement or a tech-led cabin, this isn't that car, and I'd say so before you booked.

Specs that matter for the rental

SpecFigure
Engine4.8L inline-six petrol
Power280 hp
Transmission5-speed automatic
DrivetrainPart-time 4x4
Seats7
Fuel economy~18 L/100km
Fuel tank95L main (optional 40L subtank)
Dimensions L x W x H5080 x 1940 x 1855 mm
Ground clearance215 mm
Top speed190 km/h
0-100 km/h10.8 sec

Read those numbers as trade-offs, not bragging rights. The 280 hp moves a heavy body adequately, not quickly, and the 10.8-second sprint tells you it's built for pulling, not pace. Where it counts is the 215 mm of clearance and the low-range gearing, which is what you're paying for if sand or rough track is on the agenda.

Will the family and the bags fit

Seven seats sound generous, and for shorter trips they are. Two adults up front, two or three across the middle, kids in the third row: that works for a day at the desert camp or a school run with extras. Push it to seven full-size adults for an airport collection and it gets tight on legroom in the back, and the boot behind a raised third row barely holds soft bags.

Fold the third row and the cargo space opens up properly. Four people plus a week of luggage, a cool box and a couple of large cases is comfortable. So the honest line is this: rent it for space and seats most of the time, not for maximum seats and maximum luggage at once.

The heat, and how the cabin copes

A parked Patrol bakes like any big car left in the sun, and the cabin is a large volume to cool. The AC is strong and pulls the front down to bearable in a few minutes, but a fully loaded three-row cabin takes longer to even out, so crack the windows for the first minute before you set off. Rear passengers get their own vents, which matters with a third row full of kids in July. Don't expect the auto-everything climate control of a new luxury SUV here; this is honest, effective cooling rather than a refined climate system.

Driving it around Dubai

On Sheikh Zayed Road the Super Safari cruises happily at the limit, though it's a tall, heavy thing and you feel the wind and the body lean in quick lane changes. It's relaxed, not sharp. The five metres of length is the real daily concern. Marina side streets, multi-storey ramps and tight mall bays ask for patience and a spotter on the trickier reverses, and a few older car parks have height barriers worth checking.

Where it comes alive is off the tarmac. Drop into low range, let those tyres down, and the 4x4 system and 215 mm of clearance handle soft dunes and rocky tracks with the kind of unbothered toughness this model is known for. For a Hatta run or a desert weekend, it's exactly the right tool.

A few running points. You pay the Salik tolls and any RTA fines back to us, so keep to the limits. Seat belts are required in every row, and children under four need a proper child seat. On fuel, plan around real-world economy near 18 L/100km in mixed Dubai driving, worse in heavy traffic with the AC working. The 95-litre main tank still gives a long cruising range, but treat this as a car you'll fill more than once on a busy week.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Patrol Super Safari if you want a big, tough, seven-seat 4x4 that handles sand and summer without drama, and you don't mind an analogue feel and a real thirst at the pump. Families heading to the desert, groups who need space and the odd off-road day get the most out of it.

If your week is mostly airport runs, valet parking and long quiet highway hours with four adults, you'll find this one loud, firm and bulky for the job. Look at a newer full-size SUV or a large sedan instead. But for rugged capability at a sensible rate, the old 4.8 still makes a strong case for itself.
