Need a 4x4 that swallows a big family, their luggage and a desert weekend without flinching? We hand over the Nissan Patrol 2025 across Dubai, and the no-deposit option means you can book one without parking a chunk of money with us first. This is the full-size workhorse the Gulf defaults to: eight seats when you spec it that way, three rows that adults can actually sit in, and a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 with real pulling power for dunes and the highway alike. The question this page settles is simple. Is the Patrol the right call for your week, or are you carrying size and fuel cost you don't need?
The new Y63 Patrol dropped the old 5.6 V8 for a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 making 425 hp and 700 Nm, paired to a 9-speed automatic and full-time four-wheel drive. On paper that's a big jump in shove, and you feel it. Overtaking a slow lorry on Sheikh Zayed Road takes a flex of your right foot, not a run-up. It'll hit 100 km/h in around 6.7 seconds, which is quick for something this tall and heavy.
The cabin is the real reason people book it. Two adults, three kids and a week of mall runs barely register. Put six or seven people in and nobody in the back is folded into a corner, which is rare in this class. The third row is usable for grown-ups on a DXB or DWC airport run, not just a token bench for kids.

Here's the honest part most listings skip. With all three rows up, the space behind the last bench is modest, enough for a few soft bags or a couple of cabin cases, not a full family's hold luggage. That's the trade-off of a usable third row in any seven or eight-seater.
Drop the third row and the picture changes completely. You get a flat, deep load bay that takes several large suitcases plus the airport overflow, and you're still seating five in comfort. So for a big group flying in with full luggage, plan to use the Patrol as a six or five-seater with the rearmost seats folded, or run a second vehicle. For day trips and desert runs where the bags are light, fill every seat.
Dubai summers sit in the mid-40s, and a parked Patrol bakes like anything else. The good news is the cabin's tri-zone system has the airflow to cope, and crucially there are roof and pillar vents feeding the second and third rows, so the people furthest back aren't left sweating while the front cools first. From a hot start, expect a few minutes of strong front-vent blast before the whole cabin is comfortable. It's a large volume of air to chill, so it won't be instant, but the rear passengers do get proper cooling rather than leftovers.
This is where you have to be realistic. At 5.35 metres long and over two metres wide, the Patrol is a handful in Marina multi-storey bays and tight mall car parks. You'll do a lot of careful shuffling, and some older height barriers near 1.95 metres are worth checking before you commit to a ramp. The flip side is the 244 mm of ground clearance, which means speed bumps, raised kerbs and steep mall ramps that scrape a low sedan are a non-issue.
Around DIFC or Downtown at peak hour, the size genuinely costs you. If your week is mostly city errands and solo parking, that's the case for sizing down. If you're moving a group and luggage, the space pays for the parking faff.
This is the Patrol's home turf. The four-wheel-drive system, generous clearance and torque make it one of the more confident things you can take onto soft sand or up to Hatta, and renters book it for exactly that. Air down the tyres, pick your drive mode, and it climbs dunes that stop lesser SUVs. On the E11 it's a settled, quiet cruiser that eats long airport runs and inter-emirate drives without drama.
Fuel is the cost you sign up for. Real-world economy for a V6 this size in city traffic and on sand sits well below the 10.1 km/L combined figure, so on a busy week you'll be visiting the pump regularly even with the 97-litre tank. Treat the headline range of roughly 950 km as a gentle-highway best case, not your daily reality.
Remember the running rules: Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are yours to cover, and a child seat is required for under-fours, which we can arrange.
Rent the Patrol if you're moving a real group, heading into the desert or to Hatta, or want a commanding highway cruiser that makes long airport runs feel short. Nothing in the mainstream class matches its combination of space and off-road ability.
Skip it if your week is solo or two-up city driving with regular multi-storey parking. A midsize SUV is far easier to place and far cheaper to fuel, and you won't miss the third row you never use. And if it's badge and cabin polish you're chasing over outright space, a luxury SUV makes more sense than the Patrol's honest, hard-working interior. For the big-family desert weekend, though, this is still the one to beat.
