Nissan Patrol 2021 - start from 468 AED / day

Renting a Nissan Patrol 2021 in Dubai is the cheapest sensible way to put a big group, real luggage, and a V8 into one car for the week. We can hand it over with a no-deposit option, so you book a full-size SUV without a chunk of your card frozen for the trip. This is the Y62 Patrol, eight seats, 5.6-litre V8, permanent four-wheel drive, and it's the year to pick if you want the proven older-generation car for less than the latest one costs. The case for it is simple. For a large family or a group splitting the cost, the per-seat economics of one Patrol beat two smaller cars, and you get the desert ability thrown in.

Space first, because that's why you're here

Eight seats across three rows, and the second row is sized for adults rather than children. Six grown-ups ride in genuine comfort, and the third row takes two more for airport hops or a beach day. That's the headline. Few rentals in Dubai carry this many people without forcing the back row into knees-up misery.

Luggage is the honest caveat. With all three rows in use the boot holds 550 litres, fine for soft bags and the weekly shop but not full-size suitcases for everyone. Drop the third row and the load bay opens to around 3170 litres, enough to swallow a holiday's worth of cases. For a big group arriving at DXB or DWC, the trick is to fill five or six seats and fold the back for the bags rather than maxing out both at once.

On the road and out in the sand

The 5.6-litre V8 makes 400 hp through a seven-speed automatic, and even loaded it never feels short of pull. Merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road or overtaking a slow truck on the E11 is effortless, and the car sits flat and quiet at 120. This is a heavy SUV that drives smaller than it looks once you're moving.

Because the drive is full-time 4x4 with 283 mm of clearance, the Patrol goes where most rentals can't. A Hatta mountain road, a graded desert track, or a proper dune run are all on the table if you air down and know the basics of sand driving. You're not renting this for the school run alone, and the off-road hardware is a big part of what the money buys.

What it costs to feed

A 5.6 V8 drinks, and we'd rather be upfront than have it surprise you at the pump. Plan for somewhere near 14 to 16 litres per 100 km in normal mixed use, and more in stop-start traffic with the AC working through a summer afternoon. The 140-litre tank is the saving grace. It's big enough that you fill up every few days rather than daily, even with heavy use, and fuel in the UAE is cheap enough that the running cost stays reasonable for what you're getting.

Parking and the size reality

This is a 5.14-metre, almost 2-metre-wide vehicle, and Dubai's tighter car parks will remind you of that. Older mall structures, Marina bays, and narrow ramps all need a bit of patience and a careful line. The reversing camera and high view help, but the Patrol is never going to be a flick-it-into-any-gap car. If your week is mostly downtown and you don't need the seats or the sand ability, something smaller will save you the parking grief.

Staying cool, and the local rules

A cabin this large takes a moment to come down from the heat after it's sat in a 45-degree car park. The Patrol's AC is strong and there are vents for all three rows, so back-seat passengers cool off too, but let it run with the doors shut for a minute or two before loading everyone in. On the admin side, Salik tolls are billed to you as you cross the gantries, RTA fines during the rental pass to you, and a child seat is required for under-fours, which we'll fit on request.

Who it's for

Rent the Patrol 2021 if you're moving a large group or a big family and want one capable car instead of two, with the V8 and the desert ability as a bonus. Split across six or seven people, it's a value play, and the no-deposit option keeps your booking simple. The older generation gives you the same fundamentals as a newer Patrol for less.

Look elsewhere if it's just two or three of you doing city errands, where you'll pay for size and fuel you never use, and fight the parking every day. A mid-size SUV or a sedan does that job for less. The Patrol rewards a full house and a plan that uses what it can do.
