We hand over the Nissan Armada 2024 across Dubai, and you settle the bill however suits you on delivery: card, cash, Apple Pay or Google Pay, even bank transfer or crypto. That flexibility helps when you're sorting a big group rental at short notice. The Armada is a body-on-frame, full-size V8 SUV with three rows and proper four-wheel drive, so this page is really about one question: is it the right amount of car for your week, or are you about to rent more truck than you need.
This is the American-style hauler, not a soft city crossover. Under the bonnet sits a 5.6-litre V8 making 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, sent through a seven-speed automatic to all four wheels. It stretches past five metres nose to tail and drives like the large vehicle it is: planted and unhurried rather than nimble.
Most Armada trims seat eight across three rows, with a bench in the middle. Some higher trims swap that bench for two captain's chairs and seat seven instead, trading one belt for easier walk-through access to the back. Either way you get a genuine third row that adults can use, not the token jump seats you find in smaller seven-seaters.
| Spec | Nissan Armada 2024 |
|---|---|
| Engine | 5.6L V8 |
| Power | 400 hp / 413 lb-ft |
| Transmission | 7-speed automatic |
| Drive | Four-wheel drive |
| Seats | 8 (7 on captain's-chair trims) |
| Fuel economy | ~14.7 L/100km combined |
| Tank | ~98 litres |
| Range | ~670 km combined |
| Dimensions (L×W×H) | 5305 × 2030 × 1930 mm |
| Ground clearance | ~229 mm |
This is where the Armada earns its keep. With all three rows up you still have roughly 17 cubic feet behind the back seats, which swallows the school run plus a grocery shop without folding anything. Drop the third row and you're into proper moving-house territory.
The honest version for an airport run: five or six passengers with a week of luggage is comfortable. Eight adults with eight large cases means somebody's bag rides on a lap, the same as any three-row SUV. If your group is genuinely eight people and eight big cases, take two cars or accept the third row stays half-folded.
Climbing in is easy thanks to side steps, and the wide-opening rear doors help with child seats. Under-fours need a child seat by law in Dubai, and that's simple to fit here given the space.
Park a dark cabin this size in a July car park and it bakes. The Armada's saving grace is vent coverage: strong front vents, plus ceiling and pillar vents feeding the second and third rows, so the back doesn't roast while the front gets cold. From a 45-degree soak it takes a few minutes of fan-on-high to become pleasant, longer than a small hatch because there's more cabin to cool, but once it's down it holds temperature well with bodies in every seat.
The renter covers Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental, so plan your gates and watch your speed. Seat belts are mandatory in every row.
Size is the Armada's real catch in Dubai. At over two metres wide it fills a standard mall bay and leaves little door-swing room, and tight multi-storey ramps in Marina or older towers ask for patience and your mirrors. Speed bumps are a non-issue with the clearance, but narrow residential streets and valet-only car parks are where you'll wish for something smaller. If most of your week is solo errands, this is the wrong tool.
Out on Sheikh Zayed Road the Armada is in its element. The V8 has easy mid-range pull, so overtaking a slow lorry on the E11 needs no drama, and at 120 it's quiet and stable. For DXB or DWC pickups with a full crew and a stack of bags, few rentals make more sense.
The four-wheel drive and 229 mm of clearance also make it genuinely capable off tarmac. A Hatta dam run or firm desert tracks are well within reach, though serious soft-sand dune driving in a heavy full-size SUV needs proper tyre deflation and some experience. It'll do more than most renters will ask of it.
No way around it: the V8 drinks. Expect around 14 to 15 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, worse stuck in Sheikh Zayed traffic with the AC fighting the heat. The near-98-litre tank gives a realistic combined range close to 670 km, so a tank lasts a busy week of city use, but you'll feel the fuel cost more than in any four-cylinder SUV. That's the trade for eight seats and a V8.
Rent the Armada if you've got a big family or a group, a real luggage load, and a mix of highway cruising, airport runs and the odd desert outing. For that brief it's comfortable, strong and good value against pricier full-size rivals.
Skip it if you're one or two people doing city errands. The size and the fuel bill aren't worth it, and a mid-size SUV like a Pathfinder or X-Trail will park easier and cost less to run. And if you want sharper road manners and a more modern cabin in the same full-size, three-row bracket, the Nissan Patrol is the natural step up. The Armada's cabin tech is the older, simpler kind, which is fine if you just want space, power and seats that work.
