Nissan Altima 2023 - start from 214 AED / day

If your week in Dubai is built around airport runs and a steady diet of motorway miles, the Nissan Altima 2023 is one of the easiest cars to live with, and we take debit cards, cash and pay-on-delivery so you can book without a credit hold. This is a recent-year midsize sedan, comfortable and quiet, that we rent across the city for small families and business travellers. It pairs a roomy back seat with a boot that takes real luggage. The decision this page settles is simple: is the Altima the right blend of space and comfort for your week, or should you go smaller for parking or taller for an SUV's view?

The boot and the airport question, first

Start with the part that books this car. The boot holds around 436 litres with a flat floor, enough for a couple of large suitcases plus soft bags lying flat, which is exactly what a DXB or DWC pickup with a full family needs. Where a small hatch makes you play luggage Tetris, the Altima just takes it. Four passengers and their cases ride without the boot lid fighting you, and that alone is why a lot of our airport bookings land on this car rather than something smaller.

For repeat airport runs across a week, that easy load space is the difference between a relaxed pickup and a roadside reshuffle.

Fuel and range across a busy week

The Altima is easy on petrol for its size. Expect somewhere around 8 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, more in pure stop-start city crawling and less on a steady E11 cruise. With a tank near 61 litres, that works out to roughly 700 km between fills, so a normal week of commuting, errands and airport hops rarely needs more than one visit to the pump. For a sedan that carries five in comfort, that's a reasonable trade.

How it drives, honestly

The 2.5-litre four makes 188 hp, plenty for keeping pace on Sheikh Zayed Road and for the overtaking real driving needs. It cruises beautifully at highway speed, quiet and composed, and that's where it earns its money. The honest caveat is the CVT. Ask for a hard, sudden burst and the engine drones up to a high note and holds it while the car catches up. In normal driving you barely notice it, but push it like a sports sedan and you will, because that's not what this car is. Smooth inputs suit it, and smooth is how most people drive in traffic anyway.

Heat, AC and the summer

In a Dubai July the AC is what you actually care about, and the Altima handles it well. The cabin is large, so a car baking in the sun takes a few minutes to pull right down, but the front vents are strong and get there without drama. Rear passengers have their own vents, which matters when kids are in the back on a 45-degree afternoon. Park in shade where you can for quicker recovery, but even off a hot open lot it cools properly once you're moving.

Parking, bumps and the rules

At nearly five metres long the Altima is a proper midsize car, so multi-storey bays and tight U-turns need a bit more thought than a small hatch demands. The light steering and good visibility make it easy once you have the measure of it, and the rear camera takes the stress out of reversing into a snug Marina spot. Ground clearance sits around 138 mm, fine for mall ramps and speed bumps at sensible speed, though heavily loaded over a sharp bump you'll want to slow right down. This is a road car, happiest on tarmac.

Salik tolls run on the renter's account, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so keep an eye on speed limits and lane discipline on the E11. Children under four need a proper child seat, which we can arrange with the car.

The verdict

Rent the Altima 2023 if your week leans on airport runs, business travel or family trips, and you value a big boot and quiet cruising over sharp handling. It's a settled, comfortable choice that doesn't punish you on fuel. Go smaller, to a compact sedan or hatch, if your week is mostly solo city driving and tight parking with the back seat barely used. Step up to an SUV if you need the higher view, more clearance, or seven seats. For the family-and-luggage middle ground, with airport runs on the calendar, the Altima is the smart pick.
