There isn't much air to chill, so the front vents pull a 48-degree interior down to bearable faster than any SUV manages. Be honest with yourself about what you're getting: single-zone manual AC and no rear air vents, which is normal at this price. Back-seat passengers rely on the airflow reaching them from the front, so a full car in peak summer asks a bit more of the system. Park in shade or a basement when you can, and the first minute back in the car is the only rough one.

On Sheikh Zayed Road, and where it runs out

Around town at 60 to 80 the Attrage is easy and light, which is most of what a Dubai rental does. Out on Sheikh Zayed Road it will sit at 100 to 120 without drama when it's you and maybe one passenger. Load it with four people and their bags and ask for a quick overtake, and you'll feel the limit. The three-cylinder gets vocal, the CVT sends the revs up before the pace follows, and you learn to plan the move rather than stab the pedal. It gets the job done at highway speed. It just doesn't do it in a hurry.

Who should rent it, and who should size up
