Mitsubishi Attrage 2024 - start from 122 AED / day

If you're 23 or under and have spent an afternoon being turned away by rental desks that won't talk to anyone below 21, the Mitsubishi Attrage 2024 is the easy way in. We rent it from age 18, deliver it across Dubai in an hour or two, and take debit cards and pay-on-delivery so you don't need a big credit limit to drive away. The argument here is straightforward: this is the cheapest sensible automatic for a young or first-time driver who needs reliable wheels for the city without the cost or stress of something bigger. It's modest, and we'll tell you exactly where that shows.

An easy car to learn the city in

For a newer driver, the Attrage's small size is the feature that matters most. At 4,245 mm long and 1,670 mm wide, it's simple to judge through a gap, easy to reverse, and forgiving in the tight multi-storey bays around the Marina and the malls. The steering is light, U-turns take no effort, and you spend none of your attention worrying about the car's edges. Ground clearance of 170 mm clears speed bumps and ramp lips without scraping, so you're not flinching at every car-park entrance. None of this makes you a better driver, but it removes most of the things that rattle a new one.

What it costs to keep moving

Running cost is the other reason this car suits a tight budget. The 1.2-litre engine sips fuel, and on the 42-litre tank you'll get real Dubai economy around 14 to 15 km/l once the AC and stop-start traffic take their toll. Mitsubishi's own figure is nearer 20 km/l, which you'll only approach on a gentle highway run. Either way, that's roughly 550 to 600 km between fills in normal city use, so a busy week often needs just one visit to the pump. For a student or someone early in their career, that predictability is the whole appeal.

Keeping cool when it's 45 outside

Dubai summers are brutal, and a parked car bakes. The Attrage has one quiet advantage here: a small cabin holds less air, so the AC drops the temperature to comfortable within a few minutes of setting off. Crack a window for a few seconds first to let the worst of the trapped heat escape, then run the fan hard. The front vents are strong and do the job for anyone up front. There are no rear vents, so a passenger in the back stays warmer for longer on a hot drive. With one or two people aboard, you won't notice.

Room for more than you'd guess

Don't let the budget badge fool you on space. The boot holds 450 litres, which is genuinely large for a small, cheap sedan. A weekend bag, a sports kit and a grocery shop all fit easily, and if a friend flies in you can manage two large suitcases plus cabin bags without dropping the rear seats. The seats themselves take five at a push, though three adults across the back is only comfortable for short hops. The catch is the boot opening, a standard sedan slot rather than a wide hatch, so one bulky item can be awkward even when there's plenty of volume inside.

The honest limits

The Attrage is built to be cheap, and you feel that in two places. Performance is the first: 80 hp and an automatic mean 0 to 100 km/h takes about 14 seconds, and the engine sounds strained when you ask for more. Around town it's perfectly happy, but overtaking on a fast E11 or Sheikh Zayed Road needs a clear run and a bit of planning, not a stab of the throttle. The cabin is the second: plain plastics, basic equipment, and more road noise at speed than a pricier car. For city life that's a fair trade. For long, fast intercity drives or carrying four adults regularly, it isn't the right tool.

One practical note: Salik tolls and any RTA fines run up during your rental are charged to you, and seat belts are mandatory in every seat.

The verdict

Rent the Attrage 2024 if you're a young or first-time driver who wants low cost, easy parking and a no-fuss automatic to handle daily Dubai life, and you'd rather not jump the age and deposit hurdles that come with bigger cars. Being able to rent it from 18 is the headline, and the cheap running adds up fast over a month. Look elsewhere if you regularly carry a full load of adults, do a lot of highway overtaking, or want a cabin that feels a step above basic. A Honda City covers the same ground with more power and polish for a bit more money. For a first set of keys in this city, though, the Attrage is the sensible choice.
