If you're torn between a cheap hatchback and a proper sedan for the week, the Mitsubishi Attrage 2024 is the four-door that wins that argument on luggage without costing you at the pump, and we hand it over with 250 km a day and no charge for the kilometres beyond. The case is narrow and honest: this is the rental for someone who wants a real boot and a back seat behind a tiny fuel bill, not for someone chasing pace or a finished cabin. Most small hatches at this rate ask you to fold a seat down the moment a second suitcase appears. The Attrage doesn't, and that's the whole reason to pick it.
A small hatch and the Attrage cost about the same to rent and run, so the choice comes down to what you carry. The hatch wins if you regularly load awkward, tall items and want the wide tailgate to swing them in. The Attrage wins on suitcases. Its 450-litre boot is large for a car this size, and it's a separate sealed space, so the cabin stays quiet and cool while your bags sit in the back. For a week of airport runs, weekly shops and the school routine, the sedan layout is the more useful of the two.
The one place the hatch claws back ground is the loading shape. The Attrage opens through a conventional sedan slot, not a full tailgate, so a folded pram or a tall box can be fiddly to angle in. Stacked cases, which is what most renters actually carry, drop straight in.

The fuel side is where the Attrage justifies itself. Mitsubishi quotes 20.4 km/L combined, which is a lab figure you'll approach only on a gentle highway cruise. In real Dubai driving, with the AC fighting the heat and Sheikh Zayed Road stopping and starting, plan on roughly 15 km/L. On the 42-litre tank that's still a solid stretch of city and mixed running between fills, usually one visit to the pump across a busy week.
Mileage rarely bites on this car. You get 250 km a day included, and the kilometres past that aren't charged, so a long day out to Abu Dhabi and back doesn't turn into a surprise on the invoice. For renters who actually use the car hard, that matters more than the headline rate.
A small cabin is an advantage in a Dubai summer, because there's simply less air to cool. Leave the Attrage in the sun and the AC pulls it down to comfortable within a few minutes of driving, quicker than most larger cars manage. Run the fan high for the first stretch and crack a window for a few seconds before you set off to dump the trapped heat. The front vents do the real work here. There are no rear outlets, so a passenger in the back stays warmer for longer on a hot drive, though in a cabin this short the cold air reaches them soon enough. For one or two people it never comes up.
At 4,245 mm long and 1,670 mm wide, the Attrage is one of the easier cars to place that we hand over. Tight multi-storey bays, Marina ramps and mall car parks that bigger sedans circle for ten minutes are no trouble, and the light steering makes U-turns and constant manoeuvring painless. The 170 mm of clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and ramp lips without the wince you get in lower cars. Over a week of city errands, not thinking about where to leave it is worth real money.
On the E11 it's honest rather than quick. It'll sit at 120 calmly, but with 78 hp through a CVT the overtake needs a clear run and a bit of planning, not a stab of the throttle. Push past 120 and you hear the three-cylinder working. For commuting and the odd intercity run it's fine. For a week spent flat out on the highway with a full car, it isn't the right tool.
Two standing rules apply whatever you rent. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental are billed to you, and seat belts are required in every seat.
Rent the Attrage 2024 if you want a genuine sedan, a big boot and the lowest running cost we can give you, and you'd rather not give up suitcase space to a same-price hatch. For one or two people, or a small family with normal luggage, it covers the week and barely sips fuel doing it, and we'll rent it from age 18 when much of the market still wants you to be 21. Size up to something like a Honda City if you regularly carry four adults with their cases, spend most of your time overtaking on the highway, or want a cabin that feels finished rather than functional. Pick the Attrage for boot space and thrift, not for muscle.
